    Holley sniper efi

I would buy a used carburetor, because I can rebuild it. I would NOT buy a used Sniper EFI setup. Why do you think he is selling it? Not because it was working great.

    Aluminum intake install - 340

TRUE! I put and Edelbrock Air Gap on my 340 about 15 years ago. At the same time, I bought a pair of Edelbrock stamped steel / chrome plated valve covers. I was really surprised that I had to notch the valve covers in several places for them to fit properly; that is to seat down all the way so...

Best method of making dual scoops functional?

 I have wondered about this myself.

    Thermoquad........Ok AJ, WHAT NOW?

@CFD244, @RustyRatRod, @AJ/FormS OK guys, I hate to admit this, but T slot exposure is not a term I'm familiar with. And I've been working on cars for over 50 years.

    Why run dual quads?

Hey, @coloradohill, did your hood close over that 6 Pack setup. I have seriously considered a 6 pack for my 69 340 Barracuda, but I don't want to install a scoop.

    Why run dual quads?

BECAUSE IT LOOKS SOOOO DAMN COOL!

What will cause my float bowls to go dry

Modern gas is made for fuel injection. It evaporates faster than the stuff back in the day. My car does the same thing. If I don't start it for about a week, the bowls are dry.

    does Stabil work?

I realize that there are several other brands on the market, but I can attest to the fact that Sta Bil DOES work well.

Rebuild or Replace 850 TQ for a Mild 340?

I agree with buying a kit and rebuilding the carb. Lots of good stuff on YouTube. I do have one question, though. In your original post you said that you had a Mild 340 and an 850 CFM Carb. Different people have different ideas of what a mild 340 is. I was just wondering if 850 CFM is a bit much...

    Do I need a choke?

And when you were selling parts, how many times did a customer bring back a carburetor or some electrical part complaining that it was faulty, and they wanted their money back. I worked ar a Western Auto for five years after I got out of the Air Force. Occasionally a customer would be honest and...

    Do I need a choke?

I would say that a choke would absolutely help. No question. In my opinion, when it gets cold, you will have a lot of trouble starting it and keeping it running otherwise.

    500cfm Summit carb on 318

Try jetting the secondaries up a few notches (if available). That way you will hopefully have some extra punch when you floor it, and you'll have better economy when just cruising. I have followed a lot of your posts. I know you are a putz. Oops, sorry. I meant to say I know that you like to...

Great!! Thanks for updating us. it is really nice when the OP lets us know how the repair went.

NEED HELP,FUEL PUMP BOLT ISSUE,LEAKS OIL

I would stuff a new microfiber cloth in the fuel pump hole. That will keep shavings from getting in the engine. I'd get one about the size of a washcloth and leave enough hanging out so that it can be pulled out easily. You could also clean off the mating surface on the engine and use GOOD duct...

    Recommendations for New Fuel Tank

Thanks. I could not remember the proper name, and 'tar paper stuff' is all I could think of. I have been to Canada dozens of times. My oldest daughter lives just north of Toronto. I don't know how big Newfoundland is, but have you ever met the Fitzee guy who has the YouTube channel Fitzee's...

    Recommendations for New Fuel Tank

Spectra here for the 69 Barracuda. It fit perfect. Make sure you get that tar paper stuff that goes on top of the tank. And you might consider getting a new strap/bolt setup. Stainless steel if you can.

    Fuel tank/sender question

Depending on what you mean by "Much fuel", I would agree. I have taken a unit out of my 69 Barracuda FB twice with the tank still in the car. Once to replace the sending unit with an aftermarket unit from Classic Industries (it works fine; maybe I was lucky), and once to fix a leak gasket. I got...

    Air Cleaner Paint

Totally agree. I think Semi Gloss or Satin Black are about my favorite colors. Almost nothing looks better than brackets and suspension parts that have been freshly coated. Plus, years from now, that powder coated finish will still look great. Over the years, I have probably used more Semi Gloss...

Could someone post a pic of hard fuel line routing?

The thumbnail picture of your car looks good. Post a few more pics, please.

How to test fuel pump? How to attach pressure gauge?

I just looked in my 69 Service manual. It said to disconnect fuel line prior to carb, place that fuel line in a bottle (didn't say which size), disconnect coil wire and crank engine with starter. The fuel pump should pump out one quart in 60 seconds. Since I assume the fuel amount would be at a...

    Chinese Holley

I am sorry to hear that. FI may be the 'future', but considering the cost and expense, not to mention all the problems I have heard about, I have no intention of giving up my carb. I came really close to pulling the trigger a few times, but when I looked at the ultimate cost and the bad reviews...

    Chinese Holley

Being serious for a minute, I wonder how much longer it will be before Holley, Edelbrock, Hooker, TTI, and all the rest are Chinesium? Corporate greed being what it is.....

    Fuel Line Advice/Help

How "Correct" do you want it to look? I bought a length of steel fuel line from O'Rielly's several years ago and bent it by hand to fit/work. It looks pretty darn good, and it only cost a few bucks.

    1968 340 AVS 4425S carb replacement

If you want something very close to the original, I would seriously consider an Edelbrock 650 Thunder Series carb. If you want more, go with the 750.

    What do I have here?

If it isn't frozen up, I'd rebuild it and either use it, or sell it for a nice profit. It does not look that bad.

    750 Edelbrock issue

I had an Eddy 750 on my 340 (modified to about 375 HP) and it ran great. It did smell very gassy when I drove it. I downsized the front (primary) jets 2 sizes and that made a big difference. It was still GREAT when I put my foot in it, but driving in town and in traffic was way better. After 10...

HOLLEY SNIPER FUEL INJECTION ~or~ CARBURETOR???

I went as far as ordering a Sniper unit on a weekend, and cancelling the order on Monday. My car is running so well with a $400 carb, why spend $2000 on an FI unit. Plus, I wish I had a dollar for all the posts here and other places where people were having lots of problems.
