How often do you drain your air compressor?

Mine gets drained for five seconds every forty five minutes via an automatic drain valve. From the valve there is a piece of 1/4” copper tube ran through the wall to the outside. Unless you change the oil in the compressor often I wouldn’t put it outside. My brother put his outside under a...

    Thin-wall spark plug socket?

A regular spark plug socket wouldn't fit my indy small block heads so I turned it down in my lathe. Spark plugs are the only thing I use it for.

    2 Post Lift Suggestions

I have a 9000# Atlas that I bought from a widow several years ago. The heaviest thing I lift is my 14 Ram crew cab truck. It works great but I have one complaint. I'm 5' 10" tall and it doesn't raise my Dart high enough for me to stand straight up under it. If the car didn't sit low I could use...

    New tool addition

I haven't worn a ring regularly in over 30 years. I hung my wedding ring on the top of the tail light bezel on a 69 Dart I had at the time. It cut my finger on top and bottom, then I had to take a pair of pliers to make it round enough to get off my finger before the swelling started. My...

    Bench Top Lathes???

I have an older South Bend 9" with a 42" bed, it also has a quick change gear box. I wish it had a 48" bed and larger hole through the spindle. I just bought a new 6 1/2" three jaw chuck, a new live center, new motor and put all new wicks in it. I also bought a Palmgren milling attachment, end...

    Tapping aluminum

I agree with studs and fine threads. WD-40 works well for me when tapping aluminum along with a good sharp tap, I prefer two flute over three, especially on small taps, although on aluminum it probably wont matter.

    Decisions....Gas or Diesel

I never used a oil analyses before but it sounds like it could save you some money. My cousin has had three Dodge diesels and all of them have had to have ball joints every 90- 110k miles, my Ford went longer and I didn't have but 42k on my Dodge when I sold it. Like I said buy and use what...

    Decisions....Gas or Diesel

I agree most people don't need a diesel, I don't but when I was racing a lot I did. I changed my diesels oil every 3000 miles, my gas burner every 6000 miles. 16 quarts for the diesel and 7 for the gas burner. Both my diesel trucks would wear the tires out faster than my gas burners, not to...

    Decisions....Gas or Diesel

I've had a couple diesel trucks over the last 20 years. Both times before I bought them diesel was cheap and both times after I bought them diesel skyrocketed. For me diesel trucks are not worth the buy in costs any more, not to mention maintenance costs.

I'm putzing around in the garage..

I haven't used my crafts(junk)man 1/4" ratchets in years as I have others that work. My favorite is a Mac, the only thing is the handle is round and polished so it's slick with greasy hands. Over the years I've had several craftsmen 1/4' ratchets break in normal use, yes I have the correct...

    Cheap Multimeter Fact or Fiction

I have a Fluke 87 that I've had for 10 or 12 years that I use a lot but for most things on the car I use one of the many HF freebies I have. I have to admit that the beeper on the Fluke when checking continuity is the cats azz.
