    Harmonic Balancers

I ran one that was made in Australia on my 408, my 434 runs a Innovators West damper.

    a body rear end ? 8 3/4 vs dana 60

The axles aren't usually the weakness in an 8 3/4, the pinion tries to climb the ring gear and breaks teeth off. IIRC Dr Diff has the gears to change to 35 spline axles. My 408 broke the 8 3/4 in my Dart on the second pass it hooked up, the Richmond gears had about 60 passes and a couple...

Edelbrock RPM vs Edelbrock Victor (again)

If you are going to use rail type fuel injection there is no need for a dual plane.

    Torque converter question......am I crazy?

Even if it flashes 5k you won't be driving around at 5k. The last three converters I've had all flashed over 5k and I drove them a lot. It may not be ideal but if you can't have it re stalled or trade it, run it. BTW put a good dual plane on it, you'll be happy you did.

    408 Crankshaft

K-1 is a good crank, I had one in my 408. My 434 has a BPE 4.125" in it, my only complaint is the damper key way is 2.5° off.

    best cylinder head

A 950 HP is a 850 1.750" base plate with a 750 1.375" venturi main body, they flow in the low 800 cfm range. I had a Bigs 950 HP with a 1.40" venturi on my 434, I replaced the main body with a BLP 1.59" billet main body. BLP told me it would flow 1050-1100 cfm, it's a lot cheaper than buying...

Ughhh I need help. Tuning issues.

What size are the high and low air bleeds. Check and make sure there isn't trash in one. Drive it again with and check your vacuum when it acts up. You may need a power valve that opens sooner.

What kinda times should i be seeing roughly?

I hope you have an extraordinary set of X heads for that cam. I ran 11.6's with a 11.4-1 340, hydraulic cam, ported Edelbrocks, 4.30 gears, pump 93 at 3240 pounds.

    best cylinder head

Yes as mentioned call Ross and see if that piston is comparable with open chamber E heads. Personally I'd prefer to have a closed chamber head and a piston with enough quench dome to get the compression I wanted.

    408 Crankshaft

No way I'd ever run a eagle cast crank i anything. I've seen them break behind the #1 main journal even in mild combos.

    Safe rpm

Do what yellow rose suggested and you'll be golden. I always thought it was funny listening to guys brag about turning their stock or near stock engines high rpms. Will they turn up? Sure. Will they make any power there? Not much. I out ran a bunch of high winding small blocks by only turning...

    273 rockers

I'd say the spring pressure required for a solid roller has a bunch to do with the failures too. Application, application, application...........use the right tool for the job the first time.

    408 stroker

Never dynoed my 408 but did experiment with shift rpms. I tried everything from 6000 to 7000 rpms, anything below 6400 or above 6600 it would slow down so i shifted it at 6400.

    4.250 crank factory 340 block

My street/strip 408 was close to the 600hp range, I ran it for six years before pulling it to freshen. It showed signs of block flex in the main and cam bearings, IMHO a girdle would not help. Also four bolt mains in a stock block will not help block flex either, cap walk, maybe. I'd save my...
