Recommend me a 727 rebuild kit

Got it together. Wanna thank everyone for the recommendations. Thank you Chris for putting together a complete kit for me. On my way home with it right now. LOL I’ll have it installed by tomorrow night.

Me too. Lol. I have a whole bunch of help from my brother. He’s the brain.

Recommend me a 727 rebuild kit

Yea that’s what I was hoping for. I’ve ordered one of those ‘master’ rebuild kits before for a 904 from summit and it just didn’t have EVERY single item. It was close, but I needed a few different snap rings, a couple bushings here and there that it didn’t have, and 3 or 4 piston rings it didn’t...

Recommend me a 727 rebuild kit

My brother and I are rebuilding a big block 727. Looking for a complete stock rebuild kit, no racing. Will use red clutches and kolene steels. What kit has every seal, bushing, rings, and clutch bands included? Who would I buy from?

    NP435 Trans Swap Help

1974 was the last year for the divorced transfer case. I’m actually trying to decide what manual transmission to use in my ‘74. I don’t really like the NP435 for everyday/ cruising. I like a more hot rodded approach, and today I’ve found than an A-body A833 is not the answer. lol. Given the...

Transmission cooler under driver area? Pass or Proceed?

Well, try it. Add a temp sensor and take note of the trans temp. Use a stacked plate cooler, they are the most efficient. You can always move it somewhere else. Maybe use steel hardline instead of the copper/nickel. I think it’s a little more robust. Go for it, get it done. You won’t know...

Transmission cooler under driver area? Pass or Proceed?

I think that area will be fine. Run it.

    NP435/445

Show more pictures of the whole thing. I have 2 np435’s. One of them has 2 PTO covers. First gear isn’t synchronized, you must be stopped or dead slow to engage..

What rear axle to purchase and narrow

I went with a Dana in my 70 Dart. Strange S60. Detroit Locker 3:73 gears. 35 spline chromoly axle shafts. The only reason I’d use a 9” is for the easy gear swaps.

    Transmission Cooler Line Repair

It’s more or less a get me home repair, but hell, I’ve done the same on my 77 chevy k20 10 years ago and it’s still going leak free. Lol. Change it if ya want, or if it bugs ya that much.

Would sounds like you need to get yourself a 4 speed!

TCI heavy duty 904 rebuild kit will make tranny handle 550 hp

I’m pretty dang sure, my brother and I put it together...oh jeeze...10 years ago. I just don’t remember the specifics. I DO remember adding more clutches. I swapped to a 4 speed a couple months after I installed the 904.

TCI heavy duty 904 rebuild kit will make tranny handle 550 hp

I remember upgrading to 5 thin clutches and kolene steels yea.

TCI heavy duty 904 rebuild kit will make tranny handle 550 hp

I would get everything from John at Cope Racing Trans. He set me straight on a 904 kit and went with a PTC converter, transGo 2 shift kit. Everything was almost a grand. I had to put it together myself, well my brother helped me big time on the assembly of that.

    are 47re autos weak?

My truck is bone stock. No power adders, nothing. IMO it’s not a great trans in stock form. Maybe a few thousand in billet parts from Goerend Trans will do the trick if I rebuild it, but autos are a lame duck transmission anyway. It really needs a manual.

    are 47re autos weak?

I have a 47RE in my ‘02 cummins 2500. The transmission is the biggest pile of ****. One day if I ever get the money, I’ll do a 6 speed swap. NV5600. That is all I have to say.

    Gear Vendors overdrive

I think I could benefit greatly from a GV OD in my '02 Cummins 2500 quad cab long bed. when going up a steep grade, the 3 to 4 shift really sucks *** and lugs the truck down. same for when the TC lockup occurs. I think it would be really beneficial to be able to split the 2-3 and 3-4 gears esp...

    Strange 60 vs Moser 60

Now why would they do this? Are the bearings bigger/heavier duty? I’m sure there is a good reason. ;)

8 3/4 Price? Sure Grip Unit Price?

Yeah, the price on 8 3/4 rears has skyrocketed. It’s damn near almost cheaper to build a Dana. I don’t even look at 8 3/4s at the swap meets anymore. Dana 60 for me from here on out.
  25. mopardude318

    Strange 60 vs Moser 60

I don’t really think it matters? Both are top companies. I went with a Strange S60, 3.73 gears, and a Detroit Locker. Why a Detroit Locker? I have no idea. LOL. It was kinda all we ran when my brother and I built our 4x4’s...

    Trans ID needed

So this 727 I'm about to tear into is a 1966 and has 19 splines on the input, requiring an early style torque converter? are there any negatives to this? should I look for a later year case?

    Building a Dana 60/pinion offset?

Very nice. Why did you not go with the mopar offset?

Manual valve body.. do you need a kickdown linkage?

I’m not understanding what happened there... But this is a timely thread. I’m rebuilding a 727 and I was looking at that TF3 manual valve body kit...I was going to not use the kick down linkage....I could have made a big mistake...
