It is really what works for you. I used the 73 k-frame and suspension with the large rotors on my 72. With the 73-up style swab bar there is plenty of room. I just have my local NAPA make what ever hoses I need.
It was this thing. Looked to be a pretty original un-messed with car. Was a 318 power disc car. I have a pic of the brakes before I removed them but it is trapped in a crashed hard drive. I used the brakes on my green 72 Dart.
I actually my 73 Scamp had rear mounted calipers. Sure looked to be original and don't know why anyone would have changed them on this car. May have been an early built car, I'd have to check the tag. All of my others 73-up had front mounted.
My buddy just put them on his 72 Cuda road track car but it is still under construction.
On my Dart I have 11.75 on the front with the MBM GM disc on the back using a 1.03" manual cylinder. Stops great for me. I don't care for the weight of either setup though.
I'm using the same GM calipers as the OP and had the same problem at first. For me it was a real fight getting the pistons on the calipers adjusted to the exact spot that they needed to be. Talking .003-.005". Once I did then the pedal firmed right up to where it should be.
I haven't decided yet. I've done a lot of Wilwoods and have a bunch of their crap in one of my semi trailers so I won't be going out and buying a setup. My friend is building a 72 Cuda road race car and just installed Cass's Viper setup. It's pretty slick. I'll check out the GT500 setup. I'm...
I have the 73-up factory fronts with the 11.75 rotors.
MBM rear disc.
Will probably be changing to Wilwoods and put this setup on another car.
Flaming River 16.1 manual box. Setup for street and road track like yours.
I use later masters such as this one. This one is an 1-1/16" bore. Dr Diff sells a 15/16" bore. I just tee the front lines and an adjustable valve for the rears.
Ya wow, 4 red X's.
I wasn't trying to bash ya and thanks for answering my question.
Pedal placement is important. I've used different adjustable rods and made or modified my own to get the pedal where I want it. Is your pedal too hard or soft?
I'm running a complete 73 A body front suspension with 11.75 rotors and slide calipers. I would rather have the pin ones but I had the brackets sitting on my shelf.
I used the shields again cause they were on the shelf. I'm using a master for an 80 Grand Fury 1.03 bore and also have GM rear...
I went to manual in several cars. Big cam with little vacuum is the main reason plus power is not really needed with good disc brakes. Cleaner look too.
Oh okay. that would have small drums.
I'd use Wilwoods conversion that fit the 10"-11" drum spindles. You would need to change your spindles.
MBM also has the 73-up A/E factory setup with spindles.
