Could it be a carb Problem?

If you 'ran it low', there still could have been 2-3 gallons of fuel the tank. If it was ethanol gas, then the ethanol has long ago separated out, absorbed water, and formed gum. Adding new fuel will NOT cause that gum to magically dissolve. And the old fuel left will have deteriorated and...

    Fuel delivery issues

So is the one that is connected... connected to a vent line going up front? If so, where does it terminate up front? That would be adequate, but I would put a little filter on that line to keep dust, etc., out of the tank.

    Fuel delivery issues

BTW, how do you have the 4 vents connected? I would actually plug all 4 to prevent dirt and moisture from being sucked in under the car and avoid any fuel spillage or expansion overflow, and go out an buy a 'for-sure' vented gas cap. Some of them have valves only vent above a certain pressure...

    Fuel delivery issues

Yes, you can run fuel from the pump into an open container; that is one test, and ought to show the line being fairly clear. But, realize that even if that works that a faulty pump may not pump properly into the back pressure that will build up when the carb is attached. I think any bug in the...

    Fuel delivery issues

Here is a description of how your 4 vent tank system was hooked up: Fixing 1970s Evaporation Control Systems I'd replace the line from the tank as a 1st step. After 48 years, some internal scaly rust could have fallen in when you were working with it; you just don't know. One poster one FABO...

    fuel pump

It can be noisy.... bothers some and not others. Boiling the fuel partly depends on your fuel line routing, how well the line is protected from radiant heat, if you have a carb heat spacer/shield and so on. I would not expect the pump itself to do that; I have run several similar pumps in the...

Draining this Newer Gas from Carbs

We did find that the Shell V-Power ran very noticeably better in this engine than the local premium non-ethanol. We'll start keeping using fuel stabilzer as needed, and put in the non-ethanol stuff when we know the car will sit for a while. We dumped the tank; the fuel looked like husky piss! LOL

Draining this Newer Gas from Carbs

My son and I pulled the Holley carb from his car to do some work and we flipped it over to drain the gas out as much as possible. I am not sure if we pumped the accelerator pump or not. After 3-4 months, we put it back on and the accel pump was not right. Some brown honey was oozing from the...

can you clean a fuel tank?

I have a tank that was sealed on a '62 Dart 7-8 years ago and it has been fine. It was boiled out first. I believe Red-Koate was used. That may be why the prior poster's customer had problems with his sealer: lack of adequate cleaning.

Edelbrock Experts I need your thoughts

There are dual sensor kits that can power both and display both... for about 2x the price. Otherwise monitor one side, and make an assumption on how much the 2 sides may differ; I assume a difference of + or - 1/2 of an AFR point, based on reading a few examples of dual sensor readings on...

Edelbrock Experts I need your thoughts

We're using the Innovate MTX-L. It comes as a kit with everything and about a 8' cable with a sensor with a 2' pigtail, so you have plenty of length. Can be had for $200 or even less for the kit. (I saw $178 at one place.) Hook up power and the sensor and go. It also has leads to connect outputs...

Edelbrock Experts I need your thoughts

FWIW..... if you are interested in economy, then the AFR going into the 15-16 range under light to moderate cruise conditions is fine. (As long as we are not talking about a bog condition....) Keep in mind that under these power conditions, which are well below WOT and max power conditions, the...

    "cold air intake" piping size

The numbers there are flows with an air filter....so can't be used to decide if the hoses by themselves are big enough. Apples and oranges..... but you have a direction and a plan.

    "cold air intake" piping size

Don't compare free airflow area of the 2x3" pipes to the recommended flow area of an air filter; it's apples and oranges. And the free flow area of 2x3" is around 3 times the area of the carb throats. If it bothers you, adapt up to 4" as soon as you can. It might lower the pressure drop by a...

    "cold air intake" piping size

2x3" tubes will be fine. I run 2.6L Mitsu rally engine at 14-15" boost through a single 2.5" tube from the air cleaner into the turbo inlet at 275 HP. Never an issue with getting enough air. Your engine will like the cooler air. Just watch the mixture. I am looking into the same thing for my...

    02 Sensor Mount

I'd put it a foot or 2 after the head pipe starts for stock manifolds. It could go sooner if you can get access. Just IMHO, but the >10 degree down angle is not essential. Putting the bung well up on the side or up closer to the top if possible keeps it out of any condensate that would tend to...

Sounds like lowering the floats helped some. Gauge or sender

Well, sounds like progress. I know that my son's 'Cuda has only 2 gallons or so from dead empty and is getting close to having pickup problems when the gauge reads E, so you might be able to get it better. Going back to your post #26, if the gauge is empty at 50 ohms sender resistance, and...

The above is correct. And if the OP had one of the Carter street-strip pumps, if the ports are facing outward from the engine, the same arrangement applies: the one to the rear is the inlet.
