    Question on parts value

Gen 3 hemi is a drop in 250-340 CFM head motor. Hard to bet and cheap. Its just evolution. Good luck on the sale, W stuff usually sells but I cant quote prices.

    64 barracuda 273

The 2.94 rear will love you more with a 318 in front of it. a "High revving 273" is just a smaller bore "high revving 318". I F'd up my 273-4 and just moved all the parts on to a '68 318 short block. It felt faster than the 273-4. HP sells, but torque wins races. Read the fine print...

Are all 273 V8's the same?

The "T-Flight Patty" name comes to mind of the centering ring to make a small snout fit a 68 crank, but its only a 1/8 wall ring, nd it can be made (really!) by chopping up a few 1/8 drill bits and tacking them together in a ring pattern. Simce the crank and convertor turn as a unit, there is no...

    273HP, boat anchor or?

Somehow my phone started this post on #26...? I wasn't wrong on quench, I stated the higher compression pistons you can get for the 318 (as in aftermarket) have a better quench than the 273 pistons. All that other stuff about it being a 67 with its 10" brakes and dual MC were not seen by me...

    273HP, boat anchor or?

What am I missing here? Did you delete the post? 273......does anyone build a Ford 260 when 289s and 302/351 are the same family? 273 had a steel crank, so did a bunch of 318s, and with the same stroke. > "They love to rev.." so can a 318, same stroke. > "They had good high compression pistons"...

Revving 4000 rpms on the highway

that would be 75% of the V8 readings, pretty close at 3200 with normal convertor slippage. Ive never come across an tacj with the 6 cyl loop/switch enabled, seem to all come off V8s......

Short oil filter w/headers vs 90 Degree set up?

That 90 is a *****. Ill be running a shorty myself. The 90 can be sealed if you chisel the old gasket out from under the plate and replace all 4 of them in the correct places. ITs still almost impossible to replace the stock filter in a narrow 65 with Hookers.

    70’ 340 casting mark or not ?

IIRC the maltese cross denotes an undersized main bearing journal (or other non standard issue, lifters?), ie -.001.

340 casting "revision numbers" check in

Myth SOLVED?>>>> This is from a foundry mans mouth and I believe it now. Strange that Chrysler would tolerate this. I had a 340-6 and it was .040 over, sonic checked and given an OK by a machine shop.

    340 .040 Bore Okay?

    340 .040 Bore Okay?

This has been debunked. The -11 was the cell it was cast in as they would cast more than 1 at a time or the 'core box'. You could find early '67 cast 340's with high "revision" numbers. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/340-casting-revision-numbers-check-in.505455/

    Interesting video on lifters

His math is wrong. The effective diameter of a .842 lifter with a .015 chamfer is gonna be .842-.0106x2 or .821 because the .015 is the long side of that right triangle (you need to apply the Pythagorean theorem) and that gives you a base of .0106. Those look to be hack angle grinder regrind...

Stroker Motor wont Rev pass 5200Rpm

Is your ignition boost reference, ie does it retard under boost? You could be running up against this. If you have a retard controller (MSD) you can retard ignition 1 degree per PSI and see if there is any effect. you could also dial back your timing a tad and see if affects top end only, it...

Solid Roller Lifters on Hydraulic Roller Cam

Those TEV lifters clear an LA block? I though they had to have the little V shaped link to clear the oil galley? I tried a set of Hemi straight bar lifters on a 360 and they hit something.

Speedmaster small block heads sale must have gone good

Buy now when they list them low and get them when you can. Beats buying them in stock for 40% more. You can always go faster ...how fast, how much you wanna spend and when will you be satisfied. Ask yourself that before your next purchase. Happy motoring!

    Heads for mild 360 build

Agree, not enough cam to justify the use of the "keeping up with the Jones' Chevy" 2.02 valve heads. Early 360 was supposed to have the 4.04 bore water jackets that would net a thicker 4.00 cylinder wall, but only a guy who sonic checks them would know.

    breather or oil cap?

Reread the guys post and it was a run on sentence that now makes sense if he's saying the pcv is one side and filler cap/breather is on other. You just need cross flow whatever the combo is. And historically you should run the breather on the front and the filler on the back on an inline motor.
  24. pishta

    breather or oil cap?

That sounds wrong. You need cross flow to take care of both cylinder heads and valley. Can cap fit the breather hole? Maybe someone swapped them

    MAGNUM HEADS ON LA

I swore I wrote about the oiler pushrods and lifters in my post, I think I deleted an entire sentence somehow before I posted. Magnum heads are very good compared to LA stockers. Keep chasing those X heads while you get passed by the same combo with $70 Magnum heads.

    MAGNUM HEADS ON LA

Magnum rockers are pedestal so no LA shaft mounts...the head bolts bolt right up, use a Crosswind or Chicom dial pattern intake. You'll find the Magnum heads flow better than any stock LA head. You can even use LA valve covers on Magnums just use 5 of the 10 holes! Not 100% sure of the accessory...

    Resurfaced lifters

Quite a few old Volvos and Porsche race motors resurface their hard to replace mushroom lifters. The Fiat performance shop locally quoted Mopar dumbell solids for $3 a piece as it takes about 30 seconds to do one. They have to use the proper radius grinder stone on a dedicated lifter grinder or...
