    GM Alternators

Actually the one I bought was like $45 and has a lifetime warranty. This car sat for around 8 years with the first one wire alternator on it and they replaced for free. One wire and 2 bolts and its off. I bet I could change the alternator faster than changing a factory voltage regulator...lol...

    289 vs 318 ..... Ford vs Mopar

I have thrown some parts out of both Chevy and Ford motors. I have never (probably shouldn't say this) thrown any parts out of the bottom of a Mopar engine. Yes, I know it can be done but, I feel it's much harder to do in a Mopar engine and, here is why....Rod angle, look at how much wider Mopar...

    Lifter question...

Yes..Thank you. I know all that, I was just triple checking the lifter situation as I know some members have used Magnum heads on their LA motors.

    Lifter question...

The Magnum heads don't use a rocker shaft like an LA series motor so, to get oil to the rocker arms they use the top oiling lifters and hollow push rods.

    Lifter question...

Thats what I thought as most of the ones I have seen on Summit list Chrysler and AMC under the same number. I was just wanting to pick some brains to make sure I wasn't crazy. Thanks

    Lifter question...

There are other things like having pushrods made after you measure for them and, using the correct intake drilled to bolt on magnum heads.

    Lifter question...

I'm putting together a 360 LA with Magnum heads. I keep seeing people saying to run AMC lifters because they oil through the push rods. Does anybody have a part number for these or, the information on what years and size engine thrse lifters were originally intended for? Your help is appreciated.

    Alternate Oil Filter

We run the PH3614 on the Duster it doesn't have the 90 degree filter adapter and, it has headers. It's a tight one but, with that filter it's pretty easy. The funny thing is my daughter has a 2013 Ford Fusion...takes the same filter.

Engine builders...this machining cost sound excessive?

Ya...I think it's about average cost. I was thinking it's around $80 a cylinder to bore..

Yep thats what it is vent tube!
  20. plymouth67

Ticking valvetrain noise from fresh engine

Sounds to me like the preload in the lifters is too soft. You need some adjustable rocker to adjust that out of them.

    Oil explosions when revving engine

You said the motor has breathers in valve covers, but are they plugged with old dirty oil? It would not be the pcv valve as when you stand on it the vacum to the pcv valve is gone and the valve is shut under hard throttle so it has to be the breathers. They are cheap just put new ones in,and see...

Which year or years 360 is best

Actually the late 74 through 75 blocks are the strongest. During that time iron was hard to come by and so in the casting process chrysler used more nickel in those blocks instead of iron because of supply and demand it was cheaper to use the nickel than the hefty price of iron.

    318 Troubleshoot

Sounds like you have too much fuel pressure at the carb or something in the needle and seat.
  26. plymouth67

    318 Troubleshoot

Choke should be all the way open after it warms up and if it leaks gas into the intake after its warm and you shut it off then it sounds like heat soke. Edelbrocks are known for that, they make a heat sheild plate to put under them to help with that problem.

springs for the mp 292 509

The performer springs have a dampner and the seat pressure was very close to the mp cam, the heads did not need any work for them to fit and unless your running it at 6 grand plus all the time ( Im not!) then they will do just fine and keep your valves in check and from floating at the...

springs for the mp 292 509

I dont know about x heads but I bought the edelbrock performer rpm springs instead of the pricey mp springs for my 440 with 452 casting heads and 509 298 mp cam. The profile of the 2 cams is close enough for me and it was a huge price difference.
