I hate to admit it but the one wire alternator that i put on my Duster is a GM version. Hey..it was like 35 bucks with a lifetime warranty. Y R all i did was use the factory 12v source to the alternator and, hooked it to the post on the GM alternator. I put heat shrink on the field wire ends...

That is kinda what I was thinking...make small lead and make it permanently part of the starter with solder. I would think if you tried to run a thread die over that small of a post you would snap the post off, not a lot of meat there.

I got tired of charging problems and went with a GM 1 wire alternator...now I dont sweat it anymore.

Dimmer switch was smoked also...

Got the volt meter out and found I have power at the light sockets but a weak ground. I unwrapped the harness and to my surprise a bunch of broken wires up under the battery box....fixed all that and....LET THERE BE LIGHTS!!!!! The car starts now with the lights on or off...lol

Maybe some day....not anytime soon...lol

This is where I dont want go.....send me to hell now, not pulling all the wiring out!!! Lol

I thought the same thing, there is grounds that plug into a spade on the taillight housings, the only ground I see up front is one wire on the drivers side hooked to the negative battery cable. Do you have a car you can look at?

The car is a 75 Duster, I unplugged the lights and still have the same situation, pretty sure the starter relay is bad so until I change that may not know much more until then. What's weird to me is the lights in the rear work fine. The headlights worked fine until I put the grille...

I did that and all seems good there..

So tonight I thought I would put my grille and headlights in....so I hook up bulbs to make sure they still worked and they did. I use a GM one wire on my car...I know....I know....GM....but it's cheap and puts out 14 volts all the time, anyway didnt have to do anything but hook the 12v wire from the harness to the alternator, I hid the field wires in the factory harness. Left the voltage regulator on the car and plugged...

I had the same issue with stock ignition...turned out the wires to the distributor were broken...drove me nuts!!!! All I did was swap carbs out and all the sudden no spark.....make sure your coil wires are on the correct terminal also...

It must be a 3.9 or V-8 any V-8 starter. I have a 3.9 starter on my 440 and it works great not to mention it gives more clearence for the headers and its a hell of a lot lighter wich makes it easier to put in. The blood dont run out of your arms as fast as laying on the ground with the original...
