    Drivetrain swap/ wheelbase

To answer your last question, yes. I'd bolt everything up and measure for the driveshaft. Install the trans yoke all the way in and measure the u-joint c/l to c/l, then subtract 1". You need trans yoke clearance for suspension travel and don't want the yoke to bottom out in the trans.

    gear oil for sure grip

Don't let the axles lay on the seals. Pull the axles completely out. Careful not to damage the seals removing the axles or installing them. I used the ford friction modifier for limited slip rears and straight 80w/90 gear oil. The old 486?????

    Bench seats & floor shifter?

Had a Hurst 1/4 stick in the Dart before I switched to a 4 speed, w/a bench seat. Had no issues w/the install but watch where you route the shifter cable, I mean close to exhaust pipes or headers, it will melt. I slipped 5/8" heater hose over the cable where the heat would be the greatest...

    What's whining trans or rearend?

Pinion depth is off or worn pinion bearing. You need to check pinion preload, not pinion play. Axles removed, no load.
