WHAT SIZE DRAG RADIAL SS SPRING '65 DART

I've seen guys get a 255 radial under an early A. It's close but it fits. Gotta get the backspace right. Probably not terribly helpful but I've seen it first hand. My old '65 Valiant had 245/60/15s on a 15 x 8 wheel, 4.875" bs. They fit but rubbed sometimes if there were large enough people in...

This Kool 66' Cuda Sold for $19K

If that is a real deal Trans Am car then whoever executed the 'restoration' was completely misguided. Looks like a toy you get as a giveaway at a gas station or something. Why do guys think that every Mopar should have a giant, random hood scoop and screaming bright paint?

installed msd box now car wont start

Did you keep the ballast? MSD does not need a ballast resistor. With the MSD, you are supposed to tie the IGN 1 + 2 wires together (start/run) which results in 12 volts to the coil triggered by the box. Normally, the ballast would bridge the gap between the two ignition stages because the OE...

    Early A race cars 63-66

That's Howard's car. He is from my neighborhood, just a few blocks from my house. Just saw the car on Sunday. This particular car was the subject of a 3 part article by Al K that appeared in Hot Rod back in the 90s. The article documented one of the earliest Magnum conversions. It's converted to...

Possible to get early A down to 2,700lbs?

That backlight glass weighs a ton. A 'Cuda will probably not be as good a platform as a Valiant/Dart sedan would. The shoe box is already like 2,700 lbs from the factory with the Slant, but more like 2,900 with the 273. Can you use a fuel cell? Aluminum stut rods? Aluminum master cylinder...

    Magnum 5.2 into early A?

Here is some general info on the differences between LA and Magnum engines by Al K. Not sure if the article contains what you are looking for but it may help. Click here.

    1965 Valiant front wheels

Back a few years ago when I had my '65 Valiant, I did the '73-up disc conversion. I used 15" x 5" wheels with 215/60/15s. I can't recall what the backspace was but I don't remember there being any problem with that set up. I did go with the smaller rotors (10.87) though. Set your ride height...

Finally the 66 Dart is here!!

Scott, perhaps you might want to think about installing a master cylinder heat shield, don't want to boil your brake fluid with header heat. Just sayin'.

Nice work Scott. Good to see large chunks of work getting done. Unlike me where I take something apart and it sits for months. :angry7:

Clearly Scott, you are not married and definitely do not have kids running around. Nice work, keep it up!

Finally the 66 Dart is here!!

What are you planning on doing first? Gonna pull everything out at once or do it piecemeal? Have you come up with a plan for more power?

Finally the 66 Dart is here!!

According to the ancient "How To Hot Rod Small Block Mopars" recipe for a 13 second 360, you'll need a cam with somewhere between 280-295 degrees of total duration, around .480-.510" of valve lift and an overlap between 60-80 degrees. These specs are for a hydraulic cam. Seems like your Crane...

Finally the 66 Dart is here!!

Car looks great man! I'll agree on the A990-style scoop. A later dual-snorkel scoop just wouldn't look right IMO. Leave that for your Dart Sport. When I had my '65 Valiant, I was pondering how to get one of the A990 type scoops on it. I was wishing there was a mini one out there somewhere, but...

    65-66 Early-A,s popping out everywhere!!

Man, seven-eight months ago I couldn't GIVE my '65 Valiant away. I took a beating on that car, took almost a year to sell it too. Now all of a sudden they're POPULAR? Harumph! :angry7:

    15x7 wheels- fit 65 Cuda?

I had 245/60/15's on the back of my old Valiant. I purchased new leaf springs from ESPO, arched 2" over stock and installed new KYB shocks. The rims were 15x8 with a 4.875" backspace. Fit fine, small amount of clearance by the lip, about 1/4" to the springs. No issues unless I had two 200lb...

Slickshift Hemi Superstock gearset for the '66.

Did you ever hear of anyone trying to bring back the early Pro-Stock stick racing, like a nostalgia Pro Stock series? I think the guy wanted it to be '70-up cars with the exception of a few carry-overs like the originals. They were to have 4-speeds (slick-shift OK, naturally), no back-halfs...

Slickshift Hemi Superstock gearset for the '66.

Imagine sitting there with a grinder and mowing down every other synchro tooth... Dumb question - the slickshift one in the foreground looks like a factory piece while the others look like they were 'massaged' since I can make out what look like grinder marks on the edge of some of the synchro...

    straight axle look

Yep, those were mine, sold them a month or two ago. They were 'ball joint' lifts, and get installed between the upper control arm and the top of the spindle. See this thread: (ignore the negative comment drama) http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=49927 Here's a pic I posted in...

    Early-A steering column

Thanks Bronx. If you get the correct adapter, can it be used with a power steering gear or is it still too long?

    Early-A steering column

I measure approx. 5.5" of exposed shaft length from the seal to where the coupler mounts. Can you tell me which one I have? The coupler is long gone. It's a floor-shift column if that helps.

    Early-A steering column

Trying to help another member determine whether a part will fit his power steering car or not. Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between a power and manual steering column in an Early-A? If there is, how do you tell? What do you measure? Thanks, Greg
