Sounds like new drag racing, donut circuses fines going up.

Good. Stupidest **** ever. Hard to fathom how destroying your own car makes you cool but apparently it does. The worst are the subhumans who willingly get hit and go flying when the *** end whips around. Assholes. I agree it is absolutely frustrating when these intersection takeover things get...

Best performing non offset Small block Mopar heads

I was going to say SCE but I don't see anything they offer with a "P" in the part number. That post was also from several years ago so those particular gaskets he was referring to may not even exist any more. In their current catalog they list a set that are 2.25" x 2.4" but they are for...

Best performing non offset Small block Mopar heads

That's the truth. Frankly, I'm a little ashamed to post this pic since the trim job I did on these is so rough but I can say for sure that cutting these gaskets precisely is not easy. Thankfully I had enough sense to order a couple sets. Sometimes you gotta offer up a sacrifice to the...

Best performing non offset Small block Mopar heads

Yes, the ports are works of art. They're probably about as close to an offset-style opening as you can get with standard ports. It is taking some work to match the intake ports to these but I suppose that's a good problem to have.

Best performing non offset Small block Mopar heads

Just your garden-variety small block. I have nothing to add here other than to say that Rod is a really good guy and is a pleasure to deal with.

    Desk Top Dyno

Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree with that. Desktop Dyno is based on actual mathematical formulas, not anecdotal experience. Give two different guys the exact same engine and the performance results will invariably be different. Engine building discussions here devolve into pissing contests...

    Desk Top Dyno

I had it too but last time I tried to use it a few years ago it wouldn't work. I think it was too old for Windows 10 to deal with, it wouldn't even open the program. Not sure if it's even available anymore. Comp Cams used to have a very basic version of it on their website but that's long gone...

I have the dash out my car to aid in laying out my wiring. Wanna make another one? :p

    Weight loss.

That came out awesome! That's a big weight savings off the front. Think you'd be able to get away with a C.F. hood if it was painted to match? Who/what is the lid for though? If I'm not mistaken, with a '68 Formula S 340 you would have a round, un-silenced air cleaner assembly, no?

    Crankcase breather catch cans

Not sure if this would work with a header Evac system but I just bought one of these universal Moroso air/oil separators. Moroso 85497 It's not cheap but it's a quality part for sure. I haven't installed it yet so I can't say how it works at the moment but the concept makes sense. It's filtered...

    EFI

That's awesome. Consistency is the name of the game and not having to do anything (at least engine-wise) to get the car to be consistent is huge. I suppose not having to mess with the tune might also result in fewer chassis changes as well. How would you predict your dial in that situation? Out...

    Glidden Arrow

The fact that they were using cast iron heads and blocks probably reflects the time and maybe the rules of the class more than anything. "Pro Stock" meaning some part of the deal had to be a factory part. Ultimately he did what he did because that's what the technology of the time allowed. CNC...

    Glidden Arrow

Rob, per the current owner, the engine was over 15:1. I think it ran on ethanol. It's somewhat common knowledge that Glidden altered the valvetrain angles. Dude was a cast-iron welder extraordinaire. I watched a video that described what he did to the Cleveland stuff to make it work the way he...

Couple more for ya's. Floydada! I believe these are not the original carbs but just about everything else is. The radiator sticks out like a sore thumb. Boundary scoop. Awesome detail on this thing. Amazing restoration.

Extra engine parts. These are W2s that don't look like garden-variety W2s. All the angles were changed. He must have loved the 59º deal. It's crazy what he was doing to these things. You could put your fist in these ports. All sorts of epoxy inside. The exhaust ports are about the only way...

In general, what kind of changes do you usually make? I’m familiar with the Holley software but not the MS stuff. Do you make changes based on weather or the last time slip.

I’m not much into dyno numbers.

No tire slip either which can happen on a chassis dyno.

I’m not much into dyno numbers.

OK, but... in a round about way, you did ask for proof? It's all good, I'm just providing food for thought in response to what you said. I know some people get hung up on the idea that 'we don't race dynos' and all, especially John who started this thread, he beats that idea like a rented...

I’m not much into dyno numbers.

The 'Cuda has been at least 9.63 @ 144 and is by far the quickest Mopar. The black 'Vette has gone 9.3 @ 146. Both cars are over-the-top restorations as well. For anyone that does not know what F.A.S.T. (Factory Appearing, Stock Tire) is about, these ETs are on repro Polyglas tires with...

I’m not much into dyno numbers.

Nice. D.D. knows how to make power. That video was from two years ago. These F.A.S.T. cars have become so advanced now it's almost gotten away from the original spirit of the class. There is so much more going on with them that you can't see it would make your head explode. The guys from...

    How to attach fiberglass hood

'71 Duster, 6 pins on mine. The hood is older one from AAR/Stinger. It's pretty light. The pins are All-Star brand aluminum. Center pins were not installed yet here but you get the idea. The two outer rear pins are in front of the cowl above the fresh air ducts and slightly angled. I copied how...

SB Road Racing/Nascar/Sprint Car/Reving BUDGET BUILD

I think you should be commended for admitting that, not everyone would. That said, going through this middle step still does not seem like a great approach because any time you add more power, you will be going through the same relearning process. Give yourself the best opportunity to succeed...

SB Road Racing/Nascar/Sprint Car/Reving BUDGET BUILD

Why go this route?? Perhaps I'm not fully understanding your plan but allow me to provide a counterpoint to what I think you're suggesting. You're basically saying in your statement above that you're ultimately going to go Gen III so why waste time and money on a middle step? Yes, the hemi is...

Can't believe I've missed this thread. Great work! You're in CT right? I've seen your car run many times over the years and probably chatted with you in the pits once or twice. A 10 second ET seems like it might be within reach.

    Vintage drag race question

I agree with this. Unless you're trying to replicate the car and it's period performance as closely as possible, there's no need to follow an ancient performance recipe. As alluded to above, you can make it look and sound the part easily enough without tracking down all the "period correct"...

    Vintage drag race question

This blurb is from a Mecum auction but sounds plausible. "Dodge’s normally-aspirated, high performance 273 was rated at 235hp. The extra 40hp the D/Dart produced was basic hotrodding. Off the shelf speed shop bolt-ons included Racer Brown valve springs, a Camcraft 284-degree .500″ lift cam...

I went to the one in Detroit last summer. I wish you luck, there were some heavy hitters in attendance. I'm not sure where you sit but some of those small-tire power adder guys are really fast. Hopefully your car hooks! Too bad it's not on "The Strip" itself! That would be wild. Roadkill Nites

What drives the second head, gears or belt? Have fun phasing that contraption! I’ve only really seen the crossed dual distributors with the meshed shaft gears. What years were these types of dual distributors in use, like mid-‘70s Regardless, you got some cool parts for this thing. It’s pretty...
