replacing cam shaft retaining thingy with eccentric

How do you ensure the correct clamp load is applied? Is that dictated by the rotation of the cam? Is the key on the nose a marker? Where should it be located, ie 12 oclock?

replacing cam shaft retaining thingy with eccentric

LOL. Race motor = way more ponies than I have or plan on having. Thanks for the help! I heard there are two types of timing chains, one works with eccentric, one does not. Any truth to that?

replacing cam shaft retaining thingy with eccentric

I had a 408 stroker built by a local builder. He made the assumption that I was going to run an electric fuel pump, but I want to go with a high flow mechanical. The motor is only 450hp tops, and I don't plan on making it make more (cast crank). He put the pictured below on the left spacer...

    help with priming

you guys were right. My buddy left so it took a bit more time, crawling under the car, cranking it over a few degrees, climbing out and running the drill, but finally I found the sweet spot and struck oil! I didn't know that they only oiled in a specific position. Thanks all

    help with priming

I'm getting so close to firing up my 408. I had it built by a local guy. Today we were priming the oil pump and almost immediately I had oil in the passenger side, but I can't get anything on the drivers side. I was building lots of pressure, and spun the shaft for a good 2-3 min a few times...

    break in oil and changes

correct me if Im wrong, but isn't a multi viscosity oil like 5w 20 or 10w 30 suitable for multi temperatures and the 5w or 10w refers to the cold weather viscosity, lower the W number the thinner at cold temps? So SAE 30 would be the same at any temp? And break in oil has zinc and phosphorus...

    break in oil and changes

I had a 360 LA bored out .40 over, 408 stroker, solid lifters, larger oil pan. I'm getting ready to fire it up in the next week or so and want to make sure I have the right oil to crank it over, and then get the proper oil changes done in the break in process. I have some 30w in the garage, and I...

Break in oil any suggestions on brands

A few guys have already mentioned that if you have a flat tappet cam and mechanical lifters, you NEED the anti ware properties from high Zinc, Phosphorous, and Sulfur oils. If you have a roller cam in a modern engine, the most important thing would be to make sure you're doing frequent oil...

    Which aftermarket radiator for Valiant?

did you check with ChallegerGary? I might be mistaken, but I think I saw that option on the website. I just ordered a 26" B/E body rad from him for my 69. Its aluminum 3 core and was $200 and change. It's supposed to fit nice with little changes. I've got a 360 as well.

tell me more about your fresh air intake... you fabbed that up your self? Looks pretty trick. I have a six pack bolt on fiberglass hood that a set up like that would make a great ram air set up. What are the parts from?

really like the finned retro covers or matted chrome mopar performance valve covers. Definitely going to go with '69 340 turquoise like bad440.

    Show me your small block!

I'm building my first performance street engine for my 69 Valiant. It's a 360 stroked to 408, 40 over bore, I beam Scat rods, Scat Crank, Edelbrock 340 Performer heads and intake, Crane cam and rocker assembly, and I need to finish it off with a nice set of valve covers and air cleaner. Any...
