    16:1 manual steering

Come to think about it, having a stick doesn't make it more difficult. I guess since "I" have a stick it seems like it is. Lol.

    16:1 manual steering

Hope PST will come out with a 20:1 box to split the difference between the 16:1 and 24:1. I have the Flaming River 16:1 box with a small block and 19565R15 front tires. It's a ***** to turn backing out of the driveway with a stick. I'm about 230lbs and it's becoming a bit much. Simply not...

    Where to get 8.25" axles

Try Yukon Gear and Axle, West Coast Differentials. Kinda hard finding 8.25 axles that aren't for a Dakota, Jeep, or Dodge/Ram truck You may have to get a longer van axle and have it cut down and resplined by Moser, Strange,etc..

    Flaming River Manual Steering Box

I used Moog K7074 pitman arm to clear my TTI headers and Earl's custom 8qt. oil pan.

    Flaming River Manual Steering Box

I was on the fence about it due to steering effort complaints. I really wanted the power steering conversion from Borgeson but it would have cost about $1000 with the required coupler, pump, and lines. I just couldn't justify spend that much coin. I paid exactly $499 at speedway motors with...

    Flaming River Manual Steering Box

Installed my Flaming River Manual box today. Didn't have to loosen my TTI headers either. Man, what a difference! The wheels would wander whenever I hit a bump with the factory manual box. Not this one. Acts like new car steering! Feels solid on the road. Tough to turn at low speeds but it's...

    Flaming River Manual Box

Sent it to Lares thru Rockauto.com.

    Flaming River Manual Box

This question is for those who have used the Flaming River manual steering box. Is there any steering play like the factory box? I've heard that it's a bear to turn but I will take it if the steering play is long gone. I've had my factory box rebuilt but it still has play no matter how many...

Thanks. I like the Borgeson power box but $700 to start! No thank you!

    Flaming River Manual Steering Box

Anybody has the Flaming River manual steering box with a Tuff steering wheel? My rebuilt factory box is acting weird so I'm considering getting the Flaming River box. I know turning is kinda hard but just trying to gauge how hard.

    Poll: Power or Manual steering?

I'd go manual. The Flaming River box's 16.1 ratio is heavy I've heard but thes stock Mopàr box has a 24.1 ratio. Not heavy at all. I had mine rebuilt thru Rockauto. Cost me $149 for the rebuild and return shipping.

    QA1 six-link bolt in

Probably costs an arm and a leg. With a left nut to boot! We Mopàr guys are simply getting ripped off!

    B body spindle swap

You will need spindles, caliper brackets, lower ball joints, proportioning valve, disc brake hoses, master cylinder from any '73 -'76 disc brake A-body. Late model spindles from a Diplomat, Cordoba, Mirada will work too. Whichever spindles you get, grab the matching caliper brackets.

    Which K-member to use? Pros/Cons

My brother and I used a '73 spool mount K-member in his '71 Dart and my '71 Duster. Amazing how "tight" the engine is bolted down. Doesn't "jiggle" when running. I used polyurethane inserts too.

    what t bars to get

Just Suspension has a set on sale for $199 but they are 1.00 in diameter. Even though they are more of a handling type I doubt if you find a better price for a new set. The prices for the factory .870 small block and .890 big block bars are way too high.

I got my 11/16" tie rods and sleeves from Firm Feel.

    help replacing steering gearbox please

The pitman arm should have a few splines missing as should the steering gear box. Line those up and it should go on. I have no idea about the other issue you have. Post pics of exactly what you're talking about.

For those who have a Firm Feel steering adaptor...

Did Chrysler ever use different size splines in slant 6s and V8s? Could be. I made my own adapter.

    moser axles

I had a Chrysler 9.25 rear narrowed to fit my '71 Duster with 8 3/4 ends and Moser axles. I used 72 Dodge truck brakes along with backing plates. Bolted right up.

    subframe connectors

I just welded mine in with no engine/ tranny. The front wheels were on ramps and jack stands under the rear axle. Got the car as level as I could by placing a level on the rockers. Doors open / close normally.

Duster Rear shocks too short w/XHD Leaf

You need longer shocks such as Mopar Performance P4529514. With the shocks you have there will not be enough travel for then leaf springs to work and make the car "rise" when you hit the throttle. I used a set of KYB's for an early dodge pickup which are 2" longer. Just make sure the mounting...

    steering column rebuild

I used a phillips screwdriver and snap ring pliers to remove the upper ring that holds the upper column. It's pretty easy if you have mechanical ability which I'm sure you do.

    Torsion bars

I'd go with the .890 383/440 bars, 1" or step up to .920 bars. I intended to build just a mild 360. It has turned into a race prepped 414 stroker, ported heads, portmatched intake, 1350 U-joints, chromoly driveline, etc. I say go ahead and step up now because you won't keep that 318 for long...

    Power steering or manual steering

The steering coupler diameter that attaches to the steering box is larger in diameter. The difference in shaft length should be obvious.

    Steering column

I converted mine with a steering coupler from a Jeep Cherokee. It fits the manual box but you have to grind a flat spot on the splines to match the Jeep coupler. I took the factory coupler off completely and cut the pin that holds it on the shaft & left the stub on the bottom. I will try to...

Duster/Demon Guys: 28” Tires & XHD Springs - Will They Fit?

Those appear to be SS springs looking at how it sits high in the rear. It's a little high in the front too. Mine sits like that with 27560R15 BF Goodrich T/A's with SS springs. I plan to drop it in the rear 'bout 1-1.5 inches.
