    They're still out there -

I'd give my eye teeth for a chance at a car like that... It will be a fearsome street machine with some love and some time. Man, they just don't have backyard finds in San Jose like that. At least not that I can find, and I been tryin for years.

    3 good men

My duster is running again, and it's all thanks to Greg from berkeley, jomoper, and Big D from South San Jose, after going thru three different setups I got it right last night and drove the car, smooth as can be, and I have to give some credit where credit is definitely due. I have enough parts...

    pissed

No worries little brother, I know you, you'll find a better deal. Good guy alert, this guy, Dustya 383, gave me valves for my 302 heads, for free, with a phone call, he even picked me up. I've known this guy since he used to play with my son and he deserves a good deal. If you want I'll keep my...

    I decimated my rear end

Here ya go, this was once part of a spider gear. Should I just weld them for now? run a spool? I think I would prob snap an axle, the way this thing is built. My friend said DON'T DO IT but at this point whats the worst that could happen? Wait, don't answer that. I figured it out. :mumum:

    I decimated my rear end

I have Dunlap 265/50's in the back, that didn't help I'm sure. No, it didn't rev free. I have a rev limiter anyway, set at 5500 right now for break in. Its gonna be an ordeal, I looked on craigslist and there's nothing I can afford. Great.

    I decimated my rear end

Ya mine is a 318, too, and I was going around a corner at a stop light, I wasn't even really on it. Just a little. I'm on the hunt now, anyone in nor cal got a rear end?

    I decimated my rear end

The new engine isn't even broken in yet, barely 250 miles, I have never even pushed it passed 5000-5200 rpm yet,and I was just leaving a stopligt on santa teresa here in san jose and I heard a snap-ting! sound, and I drove it back home, it was a loud sound, very loud, I heard it twice more and...

what is wrong with this thing? please help..

Thanks, guys. I just was hoping the guy who sold it to me told me the truth. I haven't had it apart, but I have built more than a few and never ran into this, cause I did it right, I believe. I will have to do some much more serious investigation now, it looks like. Thanks again.

what is wrong with this thing? please help..

I will buy one first thing tomorrow after work. I hook it up where the sending unit goes at the back of the intake, right? And if that is the case, then I have to drop the drag link and the oil pan, clean the pickup? or should I just swap in a new hv oil pump? I have about 200 I can spend if I...

what is wrong with this thing? please help..

I drove it to auto zone to buy a tach so I could do my cam swap this weekend. I got back home, installed it. When I started the car back up, there was a very strong racket coming from the block, like there was no oil in the top end. I hear a similar sound occasionally, and I hear lifter noise at...

    New Duster 2

I actually would be stuffing that into my other 318. It has 675 heads though, no flow, so it's sitting in a garage in Willow Glen. The pistons in that block are so far down in the hole that I laughed out loud!!! Cast crank, too, great... we'll see how it goes with the job thing before I buy...

    New Duster 2

Yep, selling the dart was hard to do, but I am back in action. We do what we gotta do and keep priorities in order and it all works itself out in the end. I decided to be conservative this time overall and build within a strict budget, maybe not going for a roller cammed stroker right this...

    New Duster 2

Thanks, Rumble, your words have meant something around here since I first showed up. It's good to be in a place where someone gets it. So, the company I sub-contract for put all projects on hold till friday, three vp's and the marketing dept all got the axe, so I am gonna have the rest of the...

    New Duster 2

So, I have had the duster at home for about 10 days, bought it from a mechanic, and the guy had 8 quarts of oil in it. It was making some pretty scary clacking sounds deep inside, I got worried! I changed it, was shocked at how much was in there. Put in about 4 1/2 quarts of VR1 and the clacking...

    my headers cooked my starter!

I ended up using a standard high temp and wrapping it with heat shield made by DEI. I had to unbolt the header and unbolt that end of the drag link to get it out of there and the new one in! What an ordeal! The new starter sounds much different than the old one, I was almost alarmed, I'm so used...

    New Duster

I'll prob just do a compression check, make sure it ain't under 140 and stick a whiplash series in there. For now. Building a stroker, running a XE275HL in it. saving up for the heads, but it's been a slow process with things this year, like I said. I am gonna do the new engine right, one piece...

    New Duster

So, it's been a minute since I've posted, as many of you may remember I had to sell my dart to keep the family fed, things were rough this year and I had to make it happen, so I did what I had to do. It would tear a hole in me every time I'd turn on speed channel, or when I'd be out and about...

    Help me decide

Hey, Bro, I'm from out here in the bay area, and I've been looking at the same cars as you, I've been looking for the right founadation to build on. There is a guy from fremont with a 66 cuda with a 318, for 1600 right now, and I went and looked at the car. The engine is essentially new, it has...

    Just Cannot Seem To Win...

I can feel your pain, KP, and wanted to say that the true test of a man is how he finishes, my friend. Sometimes when the storm hits all you can do is stand. But understand, your job now is to do the next right thing, and God will open the doors if you keep the faith and don't give in. I have...

    looking for a 67-72 dart

If any of you have a 67-72 dart available for a pro street project please let me know. I'd like to find an old race car or unfinished project with tubs or spring relo already done. It need not have engine, tranny, interior, etc. I can do the rest. Complete body, steering and suspension are most...

    this is crazy

I'll never forget the feeling of that first drive after I broke in the new cam, went from a 272 energizer to a monster hughes cam and I was pulling it onto 680 in 2nd and I just hit it as hard as she'd go... that front end lifted high and the back set down and that stroker started singin the...
