Too much is as bad as not enough, I dont no what your combo is but its terrible. Is this a drag strip car or what? My car averaged about 10.5 mpg I bought a mancinni distributor and with the same curve it now gets 14 just dumb luck but I will keep it.

Also make sure your accelerator pump is set up right, You will have to tune this carb but once its tune you cant beat it.

Those carbs are ready to run out of the box and usually dont need anything more than idle adjustment. I would start from scratch. The ones I checked even had air fuel mixture right on.

Only leaded fuel I know of is airport fuel or race fuel. Illegal forthem to pump in your vehicle if it has license plates on it. No plates and trailered ok, or container ok.

Hit it with air. Run good filters. Consider replacing fuel tank.

Needle and seat got dirt. Hit the fuel inlet with a couple shots of air.

What cam do you have 1000 or a little over may not be bad. Whats it do in gear or are you 4 speed?

For the price of a new tank and sender dont mess with it, just put new in there, it will save you alot of head aches down the road under two hundred bucks.

If its a street car I would recommend the holley 770 street avenger.

I have a built like yours and I am running the holley 770 street avenger. I dont run a choke on it even here in pa but I have to play with it when cold for about a minute. I love the carb and it works flawlessly. In the summer Its starts and goes fine. It was my choice to take the choke off.

I used jb quick on those slots and it worked real well for me.

Sounds like something hangin up in the dizzy maybe springs are too light.

Isnt there a filter going into the carb where your fuel line goes? All mine have them there. Its jusst a screan filter doesnt take much to clog.

You shouldnt even need a choke with that in south carolina, Im in pa use our holleys up here without chokes, just pump about three times to start.

Are the carb bolts snug?

770 street avenger and love it, snappy and as close to perfect as you can get.

I have 407 hp on my 67 cuda. Standard mechanical pump, running a 770 holley. No problems. Running the original plumbing, I think its 3/8th.

On my 318 we run 28 nozzel 68 on the front and 72 on the back. Ran as good as a 318 will.Look down the carb and make sure your squirt is instant that you dont have to pull your throttle to get juice I had to bend the arm on mine, Im gonna bet your squirter isnt adjusted right. And a 35 squirter...
