I am NOT a small block maven, but..... have you considered the street dominator.? A low rise single plane, it's supposed to make great power and good torque. Also, could you mill some height off the weiand carb pad, and use a thinner carb adapter? Is an A/C required?

I've never seen any "factory" 273 rockers arms with jam nuts and my first 273 was acquired in 1966. Some one faced the top of the arms and added the jam nuts, Ed Hamburger used to sell them on exchange system I believe.

well that depends on the converter. if its some 99 dollar special with 80's technology then yes they will hate it. a very efficient modern converter is awesome.
