Why aren't regular snap rings used in place of spirolox retaining rings?

Any ideas what's causing this. The areas surrounding the intake are dry. Not from oil pressure switch, valve covers. I'm stumped. Can't see anything when the engine is running of course.

Anyone ever order parts from CNC Motorsports? They have Scat I beam rods with ARP 8740 bolts, rated at 700hp for $419, ARP 2000 bolts rated at 800hp for $477. I plan to go with the 2000 bolts for the extra insurance. I believe in overkill.

An open chamber head with a flat top piston or a closed chamber head with a dish piston. Both at 10.5:1 compression.
