    Got a truck! '76 D100 400/4 spd. shorty

So after several years of obsessively looking at trucks wishing I had one, I was finally able to get one - a '76 D100 Custom short bed with a 400 and 4 speed! I love '70s Dodge trucks, I really do. Something about them just speaks to me. Bought this one out of Oregon, had it shipped out here...

    Jay Adams R.I.P.

For any of you guys that knew who Jay Adams was, he passed away from a heart attack the other day at 53. A giant loss for the skate/surf world. A pioneer skater in the '70s, one of the first radical skaters to come out of Venice/Dogtown. He had a tough life but always had everyone's respect.

    Duster Beauty Shots

Took the Duster out for a ride today while trying to figure out some tuning. It was a really nice morning so I took the opportunity to take some glamour shots of my ride. I've been taking pictures for a long time but I'm not a real photographer - no fancy Hasselblad, no light meter or...

NY/NJ CL - '71 Scamp - not mine but looks decent

Just a heads up for my FABO brethren in the North East. Not mine but looks like an OK deal. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4458375155.html

    Are you a purist?

Over the last few years, there have been lots of discussions/topics/threads about modern parts in older cars. A lot of guys are into this type of deal for various reasons - maybe they're after 'modern car' drivabiity and/or performance, 'updated' looks/style and 'convenience', whatever that may...

    Great Guy Alert - MiradaMegacab!

Just wanted to give an FABO shout out to my fellow Long Island Mopar maniac MiradaMegacab for hooking me up with needed parts free of charge! :prayer: I posted a want ad for a clutch fan blade and Chuck was kind enough to donate one he had on his shelf. Can't ask for a better deal than that! I...

    Great Guy Alert - AussiePlymouths!

Just wanted everyone to join me in giving a big FABO hand for Gary Thorpe aka AussiePlymouths. Gary is one of our 'down under' members who was a great help to me in finding a heater delete fresh air box. I had sent him a message asking if he had any leads on an Australian driver's side fresh...

    R.I.P. Jeff Hanneman

Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman dead at 49. I had Hell Awaits back in '84 or so? Kinda liked it but wasn't crazy about it. Then Reign In Blood came out in '86 and everything was different after that, it was like from another dimension altogether. One of the best rock albums ever, let alone...

    Still no power - story

I'm out in L.I., still without power after "Superstorm" Sandy wrecked the place. Went out last Monday just after 6:00 pm. Everyone around us has power, just our street remains out. Same thing happened after Irene, we were without power for six days that time. Someone is getting a...

    Hey, 2000 posts!

Who knew? Never thought I would be a forum junkie but it's all good. I still enjoy hanging out here after 4 + years. Met some members along the way, bought and sold cars and parts and have always enjoyed reading whatever random subject comes down the page. Here's to another 2,000. And...

New addition to my pit crew!

My wife and I celebrated the arrival of our second son Jesse Daniel Casden yesterday @ 11:47 AM., weighing in at 7 lbs., 11 oz. and 20" long. We are really excited, he might be cuter than his older brother.

    Flip job!

Guy bought this decent, original '68 Dart in the latter half of last year and is trying to flip it for a $5K profit. March 2012: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180850560149 Sept. of 2011: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=160459 Was on...

    New ride

Bought a new-to-me '71 Duster from incredablehefey (Jeff) a member here. Check the ad here. It was actually his pop's car, Rod. Great people to deal with, the entire exchange from start to finish went off without a hitch. The ad really helped to sell the car, the pics were very good and showed...

    Buying old Mopars in 2012

So I recently bought a new-to-me ride. (will follow up with a post in a week or two) This is not about that but the actual process of buying the thing. I wanted to share my recent adventures in car buying to see if its as tough out there for everyone else as it was for me. I looked for a long...

    Mazdaspeed 3

OK, my wife and I need a new car. Though I still drive it, my '98 Jetta is on its way to the junkyard. She wants an economy car (naturally). I tired convincing her we need to buy an old car because they're just way cooler but I called off the dogs when I realized there was no way I was going to...

    Lowballers

Whats with some people? How come guys think they can get something for nothing? I swear, some of these as*holes have some serious stones trying to get me to sell stuff for less than half of what I'm offering. I realize there is haggling and back and forth when dealing - I do it myself, no one...

Struggling at work - looking for tips.

Thought I'd give this a shot here. I have had a rash of things come back at work ( I am a tech) for really stupid things. I'll be honest though and say the ones that really are bad are loose/missing fasteners. Case in point; the other day I did a brake job. I took the brakes apart, cut the...

I'm stoked! Taking a restoration class!

That's right! A local tech/vocational/adult edu. school offers a course in restoration. They teach panel fabrication, body work and paint/refinishing. Apparently, you are supposed to work on your own car but I'm not sure on that. If that's true, I'm really excited. Starts in March and lasts for...

Question for all you veteran techs...

So, I have a year experience working at a high volume dealership on salary as the shop foreman's assistant. Recently, Ive come to the conclusion that I may need to go somewere else if I ever want to make any money. Even though I can do a lot of different jobs pretty well and generally work...

    Work shoes - whadya like?

Looking into getting a new pair of shoes for work. (I'm a dealer tech.) Wore some old running shoes this summer but they were trashed and offer absolutely no protection whatsoever. Switched off and on with a pair of low-top Doc Martens but they're starting to get pretty beat too. Have a pair...

Parts you've removed - keep or sell?

Just wanted to see what others have done in regards to selling off original parts from your car. Though I haven't gutted it, I basically stripped off all 'unnecessary' (to me) items for my street machine '71 Dart in an effort to save weight and remove clutter. I ditched the climate control...

Kiddie car seats in old cars.

Soooo, got a small dilemma. Just got a new job and my wife and I will need to get another car, like by Monday. We can't afford much, but she gave the green light to look into an old Mopar. There seems to be plenty of unwanted Scamps out there. Looked into a Ramcharger too but someone beat me too...

Classic ball game- Yanks beat Sox in 15

GO YANKS! A-Rod comes through in the clutch... 15 innings, almost 6 hours - a game for the ages. Two of the best pitchers in baseball going at it too. Gonna be hard for the Sox to recover from that loss. Boston fans must be morose.

Memorial Day weekend - first grill session

My wife and I recently made a great purchase - a Weber Spirit 3 burner gas grill. It's a great piece of cooking equipment, everything I've grilled so far has come out perfectly. I'm stoked, I'm living the dream. This was our dinner tonight - New York Strip ('natch) medium rare. So remember...

My son's first birthday - Happy Birthday Jake!

Just wanted to share this here since I spend enough time on this board and now know a few of you guys well enough. Today is my son Jake's first birthday and it's been an unbelievable first year. He's had more harrowing experiences than most people ever go through in a lifetime and has made it to...

    Engine or motor?

Kind of a silly post here but I'm bored and looking for cheap thrills. What do you call the powerplant in your car, an engine or motor? I've always associated the word motor with a small electric motor, like a drill or something. However, all my life I've been hearing guys say things like "I'm...
