My ‘60 Valiant 200 has rear drum style. On left side. Apparently a modification.
( Front drums usually have studs attached to drum)
Odd modification. Ever seen this?
Why would somebody do this??

I dont think I have ever seen drums with studs attached to them (how would you even attach the drum?)
and I see nothing out of the ordinary there

Can you post the passenger side for comparison?

PO is thinking of the drum/hub swedged together with the lug studs. ie 64 and older tapered axle setup.
Like diymirage asked, what is the other side like??

It is very simple.

That's a replacement drum. There were some aftermarket drums available (can't remember what brand) some years ago that had the stud holes large enough to slip over the existing studs.

There's also the chance the stud holes in the drums were drilled out just enough larger to fit over the studs. I've done them that way myself.

I betcha they did it to go from left hand threaded studs to right hand threaded studs

Do the driver side rear studs also look new?
