Handful of questions on this system if anyone knows:

FSM says the gauges run off of 5v. I know in the 65+ the clusters have a voltage regulator, but where does the 63/64 get the 5v from? The schematic looks like it's just feeding ignition 12v to the cluster.

I have two clusters from 64s and they have a capacitor from ground to the ignition side of the fuel gauge. My '63 does not have this. Is it missing? Or were they not used in the 63? I don't see a reference to it in the FSM schematic, but I admit I'm getting cross-eyed trying to follow the schematic so may be missing it.

Schematic shows circuit breakers for both the wiper motor and headlights. I've replaced this entire wiring harness in the past and never ran across any breakers. I had always assumed the headlight one was inside the switch assembly itself and never really thought about the wiper motor. Where are these breakers? (I have no issues here, just curious)

TIA!

If the fuel gauge has 3 terminals, the IVR is built into that gauge

How it works

External IVR plugs into the circuit board, has a ground, and receives 12V from the key. It "chops" the 12V (original type works like a flasher) to approximently 50% duty cycle. It feeds this power to the gauges, through each gauge, and to the gauge sender to ground.

The difference in the Ralley clusters or the early cars with the IVR in the gauge operates the same except the thing is built in. The fuel gauge receivers 12V from the key to one terminal, which feeds the internal IVR. The IVR internally feeds the fuel gauge, which then has a sender terminal stud

The 3rd stud is the IVR output, in parallel with the fuel gauge. This feeds the IVR power OUT of the gauge to the PC board trace, which then feeds that IVR output to the temp and oil gauge.

You can replace it by abandoning it and adding an external. RTE is on outfit;

63 Valiant is in the fuel gauge 64 is the same. In fact, the 63 and 64 fuel gauge is interchangeable except the script on the face of the gauge is different the 63 the scale is in an arc and 64 it's a straight line. The capacitor is for radio noise suppression.
