I own a "64 Dart GT convertible, slant six, three on the tree standard trasmission. The car is an 8 out of 10 condition, and 99% stock through out.

I really like this car but I am in the situation where I my knees can not handle the clutch well. I am 80 yrs. old.

So it seems my only option is to see about trading for a similar condition car with an automatic or sell this one and search for one with an auto.

Here'some details about my GT.
Greart paint. Engine rebuilt about 40 K miles ago, a file about 2" thick with receipts of work done in the past. Interior is great, seats, carpet, chrome moldings, badges, power top, ect. New canvas top and exhaust system.
Exterior is real nice with all stock trim and emblems.

So i'm looking for a car in this condition, but with a push button auto.

What would you do if in my situation?

Any considerations or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you
Steve

Good suggestions, thank you
.
I am considering installing a push button setup and tranny. The parts are available. The current engine and drive train are in great shape.

My only draw back is because the dart is 99% stock and I'd like to keep it that way.
Perhaps I should sell it and find a another car.

I'm like an old wussey.
Perhaps I should slow down and give it a good think.

Any more suggestions are welcome!

Thanx again
Steve

I understand the originality factor. That said, floor shift auto as much easier, cheaper and less pain in parts and install.

I'd keep the car as the replacement might not be as expected. Just my 2 cents.

What's the parts list to replace the trans with an auto? Can he keep his driveshaft? If originality was a concern I still wouldn't hesitate to swap the trans and keep the original parts crated up to go with any future sale.
