1965 Plymouth 'Sport Fury'

* 426/365 HP ~ 'Commando 426'

Shipping Weight .... #3870 lbs.
Curb Weight .......... #4025 lbs.

In 1965, came in with a Weight-to-Horsepower factor of 10.63 Wt/HP.

It was very desirable for the C/Stock Class {10.60 to 11.29 Wt/HP}.
And the 'Beasty Battleship' was one fun car to have.

An older fellow had a Black 4-door 1965 Fury I back in the mid 80's.
426W & 4-speed. He had purchased it new.
He always had it parked out in front of service station he owned.
I would have really liked to had it, but when he passed, the family went bonkers over the "250 thousand dollar car".
At least thats what they thought it was worth.
Lost track of it & never seen it again.

Performance

A 4-Speed with 3.23 Gears 'Sure-Grip' was capable of getting the #3870 lb.beastdown
the 1/4 Mile in 15.50 @ 90 MPH.

There was also a 1968 Fury I in the early 2000's.
It was a 2-door post.
It had been a Police Detective car & had what looked to be the Road Runner 383 in it with an automatic.
Had an unsilenced air cleaner & upsweep exhaust manifolds on it.
A young girl had inherited it from her Grand Father.
It was a neat car.

The Plymouth fury line up consisted of Fury I, Fury II, Fury III, Sport Fury and Fury VIP, all with different trim levels. I have heard lots of people mix up the trim levels, but do not believe there actually ever was a "Sport Fury III", it is one or the other, not both.

Here is my buddy's 65 Sport Fury ragtop that we converted to a 440. Awesome cruiser!

Yeah, thanks for the info 69 Cuda 440. I guess that I was wrong - and that there was no Fury VIP in 65. I wonder when it was introduced, 67 I suspect?
