When I first bought my wagon I just figured that someone tried to make it a two tone car and be creative. Today I decoded the fender tag and it came up as a two tone car under the paint code. Something else I've wondered about is that the grill is blacked out in the center just like the black area on the headlight bezels. Also the interior instrument bezel and heater control bezel are also blacked out. Every Valiant I've ever seen has had these interior pieces plastic chrome even other V100's. So I'm wondering if this was a fleet vehicle or special order work wagon. Has anyone ever seen a two tone wagon like mine or have original pictures of one? The car really doesn't have a dividing line to break the two tone paint colors. The tag also states 2 seat station wagon with buckets. If anyone knows more about this option or has seen them please let me know. Jayson

Thanks for the link very helpful. I'm not convinced that someone painted the instrument panel. It is way to detailed and the white boarder is yellowed white plastic like it was from the factory. Now all I need is a original picture to see where the division line would be for the two tone paint. What did they mean by 2 seat wagon I wonder? Jayson

Jason. They had 2 seat and 3 seat wagons or 6 passenger or 9 passenger wagon. It means how many people you could have in the car. The A-body cars only had 2 seat or 6 passenger wagons.

It a super nice and clean wagon you have. That is a keeper. They can't be too usual over there either.

You don't see many off these early abody wagons here in Michigan, but I know of another 65 Valiant who's a member here. My wifes cousin has a neighbor with a 65 Dart wagon. I looking forward to restoring this car but for now we are driving it and enjoying it. We were out cruising Woodward this past week and the crowd always enjoyed it even being unrestored. The steel wheels will get body color when we paint the car. Current plan is rebuild engine, trans, install1966 steering column and kickdown linkage, and exhaust. Jayson
Wonder what the car would look like with body colored wheels ??[/QUOTE]

I think mine were red but someone painted them white when they tried to redo the paint. Jayson

Very cool. The wife and I talked about colored body with a white top when it is due (like my corvair wagon was) but I thought it would look funny. Boy was I wrong. I guess I know what my next big project will be! LOL

I would be interested in seeing some close up shots of where the paint break is on the front pillar. Is there a piece of trim separating the colors? I parted out a 2-tone sedan (white top, dark teal body) a long time ago and I'm considering doing a similar treatment to my '65 hardtop.

There is no good spot for the parting line on the pillar and no trim to conceal it. That's why I really didn't think my car was an original two tone car when I bought it. Maybe someone car post a picture. Jayson
