1966 Factory V8 Valiant Signet Restoration For My Other Daughter

-
Dang....I just got a shipment from them. You recall what they call them?

4 Tons of pressing and some bead blasting got the pin out and the booster linkage is free. The 73 and up valve is mounted and the 73 and up A Body line kit was perfect with minimal Rebending. With a bit more rebending effort one maybe able to use the original rear brake line and not have to extend it but I though this position was perfect for accessibility. The booster brackets and vacuum tank are blasted and painted with SPI epoxy primer. Now just waiting on the booster.

And yes I packed away the remnants so I can refer back to them if I need to. I have new foam and the install kit but the Legendary Interiors covers are in week 20 of their 32 week lead time.

You wouldn’t have a pair of passenger side bucket seat mounting rails would you? Have the slides just not the seat to floor parts

Jim, you're puttin most of the rest of us to shame on this. Absolutely beautiful work!

for the bucket seat mounting rails, contact Willie @ windy Hill auto parts. 320 354 2201. Jim could have found the booster there if he had remembered I gave him Willies number way back when I sold him the Valiant. When your busy you just go where you know. Great work Jim. looking forward to seeing you on the 12th.

Had help bleeding the brakes. I hacked in some lines for manual brakes until the power booster is done. Only fluids left are Dextron 3 and coolant (hose will be here tomorrow). Need to get a loan to buy the Dextron. Good grief.

1 step forward and 10 back. Was about to mount in the AC vents and realized I never put the defroster hoses in. Easy just reach up I and slip them on. Nope. Even with the outlet vents out of the dash at the bench they were a PIA. while there fixed the no high beam indicator and found the rheostat on the light switch not working. The parts from the AC cars have saved the day more then once. I really need to wait to get it running to make sure there is nothing else I need to do behind the dash.

Looks great Jim!
I made sure(best I can lol) after reinstalling my new complete dash and harness that EVERYTHING worked and ran. Than called the glass guy(I'm too nervous with glass lol) Chk push button resistor for sure too!

I NEVER put the windshield in until I have driven it a few miles!

No matter how many times you measure and convince yourself you did it right you always get that uneasy feeling putting that new shortened driveshaft into place. Now my shaft is the right length. Early A with a 904 with an 8.25” is the same as a Duster with. 904 and 8.75”….. 49.5” is perfect.

The Schrader valve does come out but it may take persuasion. Got this kit from O’Rileys. Used the install tool as the punch to knock the old one out. Bead blasted the housing, a bit of AC oil and it is a tight seal now.

Got the moulded 90 degree heater hose. I ended up only having one of my dual wire clamps left plus this LS swap hose the walls are much heavier than any hose I have used so my go to in stock clamps are a bit undersized. Need to order a new supply Monday. For now I uses fugly worm clamps.

Even super hero’s have bad days. These Edelbrock Aluminum parts are really crappy metal. Start a bolt cross threaded once and it’s over. AC brace support hole repaired.

All hoses, lines, radiator, shroud, etc tight. Fill it with fluids and time to fire it up tomorrow.

Someone on Facebook noticed I had the muffler on backwards. Oops. It does fit a lot better this way. The new driveshaft is a fatty compared to the old. Needed to make a bit more clearance for the parking brake cable.
