There is slop in the upper A arm bushings. It doesn't seem to be the rubber. If there is play between the adjuster bolts and the metal of the bushings, is the wear most likely on the bolts or the metal of the bushings. Or am i missing something here?

Everything is still bolted in place. With suspension loaded you can rock the top of the tire and hear a distintive click click. I thought it was loose wheel bearings, they were fine. Thought it was upper ball joints, replaced them and that's when i found the slop in the upper bushings. What i dont know is could the adjuster bolt be worn or is all the wear in the bushing

Probably a combination of both.
But those adjuster bolts are pretty darn hard.
I haven't seen to many of them worn, in my rebuilding.
I'd bet on the bushing(s)
Since you already replace the ball joints, it's not that much more difficult in doing the bushings, also.
Then all your top end will be done.
Over and done with.

That's my thoughts too and they are cheap! I just bought a ball joint separator tool OMG where has it been all my life.

Does the center metal of the upper bushing get clamped in place when the adjusters are tightened?
