Hello. I am new to the MOPAR fascinations, and have included a few pics of my Barracuda. Today's question... Was the original trim piece between the tail lights on the trunk lid red or a golden color?

That metal piece that is Red is the trunk lid. I have seen it painted Red and seen them painted body colour. Either way is good or a personal preference. Some paint it red to match the tail lights

I believe there was an option for 68 cudas and the red "option". Google Hamtramck Historical for a factory option list

If it's original, it's red reflective tape. It looks cracked, so I'm guessing it is. Normally, that part of the deck lid was painted body color on '68s. A couple of special option packages offered the red tape. As small as the '68 taillights are, I think the reflective tape is a good idea.

Thank you for all of the details. I have alot to do on this car, and this helps me keep the "Factory Original" vision.

Post your fender tag and we’ll decide it and see if it originally was a spring special optioned car

This is a low mileage, original car. It was still with its first owner very recently. Hopefully still is. The owner may be here on FABO, but I think the picture is from somewhere else.

Those are (that is) mine - <GRIN> - its a tri-fold that in the dealer showroom would actually hang above the car or be placed on top of it.

It IS part of the "Win You Over" sales program similar to the "spring specials" in the Dodge world. However it would most likely show up only be on the broadcast sheet, not on the fender tag :(. DO note the other things that were part of the "package". Lower sill trim (commonly referred to as the gills and spears), "chrome" grill inserts (rare, actually have the word "chrome" as the stamping), and as discussed here the rear reflective stripe. I've poured over old Plymouth bulletins (I don't have them all mind you) and I suspect the only cars that were supposed to get these specific pieces were the "Win You Over" or spring special packaged cars. I am certain however that ANY enterprising dealership could order the reflective stripe from the parts dept. and add it on. Any way glad Mr. Mosley kept those pictures and they potentially could help someone someday!
