Selling my numbers matching 340 GTS.
This car is one that a purist will want, matching 727 torqueflite car with no power brakes or steering. Console car with buckets. New legendary interior, seat covers, carpet and headliner.
Early production (9/67) car with no VIN stamped on engine, casting date 6/67.
Have all ORIGINAL components i.e, carb, intake, starter, dual point distributor etc.
Currently running holley on LD340 intake (w/ Chrysler part number), Comp cam thumper roller cam and lifters. Mildly ported X heads.
Completely professionally rebuilt by Grimes Twister Engines in Alpharetta, GA
Dyno tuned to 360 HP. Car has original quarters, no rust or bondo on car. Factory undercoated car, really clean underneath. Odometer shows 54k, and it may be correct, car still has original factory headpipes off factory manifolds. Has fender tag but no build sheet found during restoration.
Feel free to ask any questions, asking $39.000.

Is that the current Picture of the motor after the rebuild or was the rebuild done many years ago

Hi Bill, I see I answered you incorrectly, I thought I had a pic of engine after rebuild in listing, so I stand corrected. That is how it came to me originally.

If the car was built before Chrysler started stamping the partial VIN’s on the block, what is ‘numbers matching’?

You are so correct. Ad should say, numbers matching transmission and original date code correct engine.
I was trying to convey the important part which is the car was born with engine.
Thank you for pointing that out.
Ken

Any idea why they would stamp the Vin on the Transmission but not on the Engine?

Can you trace with documentation that the engine was born with that car?
Seems odd the tranny is stamped but not the motor. Not sure why the factory would do that.

No I can't, but reason leads one to believe that. 1968 was the year that engine and trans "were" to be stamped with partial vins, my block is casted in June with a September build date, and it does not have an X in the casting standing for a warranty replacement. My block is not the only unstamped early build out there, Dodge's QC was less than perfect and I am 99% confident my cars engine was born with my car. No one can say 100% because there is no vin. Just another Dodge anomaly.
