I've been working on this thing for a few months now and I'm finally getting some progress! My goal is to make it drive able and work on making it pretty later on. My wife's father bought it new, so it's worth saving!

Looks good, I find sourcing parts take a lot of time due to Mopars are not as common a Chevy parts etc..

That's for sure! I've honestly found nearly all my mechanical parts from Rock Auto. Sure wish someone made aftermarket front fenders!

How bad are the front fenders? Looks like they just have a hole in them? May be able to repair them? Where in Wisc. are you? I'm western side. :)

They are rotten all the way across the top as well. It was undercoated when it was new and the moisture got behind the coating. I think the whole fender would turn to dust if a guy tried to media blast the rust off!

I've got a nice used original carburator if anyone is interested! I'll even throw in the mouse nest for free!

have you tried classic industries for some of your parts.. I know they have large selection of resto parts

That wheel looks fantastic. How did you prep it and paint it?

Thanks! I sand blasted them, sealed, and base coat/clear. We have a local metal shop that rents out their blast room for $40 an hour. It's big enough to put a whole car in.

ouch! looks like that thing was under water.
The whole air cleaner was completely full of a mouse nest. I can't even begin to explain the smell that came from that thing. It's been sitting in a barn since about 81, so I guess that's what 35+ years of mouse pee does to a carb. The amazing part is the intake was perfectly clean inside!

Close to being a running driving car again! I know it's not the correct color, but it's temporary until the original is done.

Finally pulled it out of the corner after winter and took it for its maiden voyage. So far everything seems to be working surprisingly well! First stop was the Cemetery to visit the father in-law.

Ran the buffer around the rust spots and from 20 yards, it actually looks ok. Took it to a cruise night at the local drive in Thursday and it really drives nice. 150 trouble free miles so far.

Nice progress and I like your approach. So cool that it was your wife's dad's from new. I remember test driving a new 69 340 4spd fastback in Sacramento back in the day. Similar 69 was also my first car after getting back from VN. I have 69 project now. So really appreciate your car and your story.
