Does any one have photos and a description of how they repaired the hooks the trunk hinge torsion bars attach to? The pressed sheet metal has cracked and deteriorated and will no longer hold the torsion bars on the passenger side. I have seen posts about adding struts but would like to keep it stock.

Good to know it is not just a 67-69 convertible issue. I'm working on a plate to weld or screw behind my existing support, till the car gets a full restore.

If you can get your hands on a trunk support that is in good shape maybe you can do the same, or you can make one in place.

On the convert, there is a sizable flat area that makes making a plate fairly easy.

Update...

Plate was a failure. It interfered with everything. I just had mine welded up. And it works great now

My support had metal fatigued in the area shown by the lightning bolt.

And was eroded in the other areas.

I had a welder weld it back together and reinforce the other areas

So based on the photo, you removed them from the car to do that. That may have to wait then until my driving season ends.

No I lucked in and got those from a donor car.

I took the trunk lid off and the hinges and torsion bars out.

Removed the spare tire and put some plywood over the hole.

The welder had no problem getting in there to weld up the damage.

The originals are still in the car just welded up.
