1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

I finally put the LED lights on the lift yesterday. I'm pretty happy with them. They seem like good quality, and they're magnetic, which is nice. It makes a big difference.

Hemi stuff.....................

After removing the passenger shock and the master cylinder, I was able to get the valve covers off. The reason for disassembly was to check and adjust the valve lash.

The master cylinder was the most difficult to deal with. After unbolting it from the firewall, still no clearance. I then unbolted it from the pedal, thinking I could move it over enough, still nothing............ The valve cover would not come off due to the master cylinder, and the MC could not be moved because of the valve cover. However, with everything on the car, I am always learning stuff and how to deal with an engine that is not made to be jammed into such a confined space.

Moving forward, I do not want to deal with the same MC issue. I ordered the relo bracket from Mancini and a different MC. With the new setup, modifications still needed to be done to clear everything.

-The studs to mount the MC had to be pressed out, and the holes tapped to receive new 1/2 bolts.
-The passenger side bolt hole needed to be cut out so I could rotate the MC onto the bolt, then tighten it up.
-Shave down the front of the hole to gain more clearance.
-Shave the bolt head itself down to gain more clearance.

The result is:
-The relo bracket can bolt up to the firewall
-Install valve cover.
-passenger side screw is already installed in the relo bracket and then backed out to accept the master to pivot onto the bolt.
-Install driver-side bolt.

for the oversized cast valve covers required for the Stage V / FHO Hemi heads, we ended up making a custom HDK offset M/C adapter with added offset for clearance and ease of removal.

OEM stamped covers, no problem with the standard aftermarket offset.

ahhhh.... I'm sure you are going to flip your bracket over and put the offset to the drivers side.

I'm surprised you do not clean up the aluminum valve covers that were on the car. They are overall smaller, scream race car and way more period correct than the cast covers. I know of several on Hemis with zero leak issues.

I did clean them up came out pretty good, however with the aluminum heads and new rocker stands they didn’t fit. Had to get the larger cast from Ray Barton

Car is going back together...................

New front shocks, Relo bracket mounted on the firewall and valve covers back on and bolted down.

Need to still put the new MC on and finish up the brakes. Then new plugs and wired up and ready to go.

I like the look with the black rear wheels and slots on the front. @BrianT inspired this look for me. I am going to run this for a while. I also got the slots mounted to new tires and can throw them back on as well. The rear Hoosier tire was just too tall and way too close to the quarter. My FIL glassed the fenders, so I can't do anything with the rear quarters to open it up or bend the lip.
