I have a 1970 340 that's been sitting apart for waayyy too long. Long enough that I've actually forgotten the direction I was headed with it. I am finally going to get it put together and am curious as to what others think is best.
So this is what I have to work with:
1971 Dart Swinger body with no mod's except a 1970 8 3/4 with 3.23 limited slip, 4 speed, headers.
1970 340 (Duster) with:
electronic ignition
6-10K miles on full rebuild, TRW pistons with oem compression (10.25 l think)
NEW install of a purple shaft camshaft, solid lifters, never yet ran.
Holley 650 double-pumper, square base.

And now the variables:
Holley Street Dominator, looks like a square base carb will bolt on without adapter, but need to verify that.
Edelbrock SP2P-318, definitely shaped for a spread bore, would need an adapter plate.
OEM 1970 Plymouth cast iron 4bbl manifold.

Which manifold would you use?
Thanks!

The iron 2100 manifold is still one of the better ones

the 70 intake is a square bore, 3462848 casting, 2100 is spread bore 71 n 72 340 both are very good manifolds .

Hands down, the factory '70 manifold.
The Street Dominator is a decent manifold, but the '70 is better.
Sell the SP2P to someone doing a 273 build. The small ports are a killer on anything bigger than a stockish 318.

Wow, I'd forgotten how long it's been since I bought these manifolds. Info today is scarce, looking at forum posts 10+ yrs old, and they're called vintage now! Most comments I find are thumbs down on the Street Dominator.
I no longer have the Mopar Performance engine book, but didn't it recommend the SP2P? (am I remembering correctly?) But I don't see it working well with the square bore carb.
Thanks all!

The 70 Mopar Hustle Catalog recommended Edel LD-340, Holley 3310/780, Hooker underchassis Headers, avail at local Mopar Parts Counters .
That's where I got mine , and maintained warranty.

Street Dominator is a good piece. I would endorse that. SP2P, no.

Hands down, the factory '70 manifold.
The Street Dominator is a decent manifold, but the '70 is better.
I'd love to see dyno numbers to back that up. It wouldn't surprise me much, but I'd still like to see it. The Street Dominator is a really good old school intake. They don't give much, if any on the bottom end.

The SP2P is a low rpm intake, 1000-4000 rpm. If that is your intended power range, then it is a good choice.
Using a DP pumper carb suggests a higher output engine, so the factory intake or Holley intake would be better.

WHERE THE SP2P shines is on 318/360 Motorhomes... Lots of low RPM velocity, don't expect it to breathe past 3500-4000 cause it can't...

Same for the Streemaster 318
Red marking shows where I'm going to machine it to be effective to 5000, per Garrett Ellison
