I have a 1970 Dart and the door won't open when using the inside door handle. It opens from the outside handle just fine. Everything is lubed up and seems to be functioning, but it just won't open using the inside door handle.

Before you tell me that it's sagging hinges, know that it won't open when I manually latch the door when it's open. So that's not it.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is?

Can I just buy this one from Classic Industries or is a 1968 Dart have a unique one year door latch?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I would check the linkage and door handle first.
There is an adjustment on the latch for sensitivty as well. But its usually the outside button thathas trouble opening.

1970 model year latches are a one year only deal.

Check the linkage as mentioned above, are both ends connected?

Rod end clips in place & intact?

Compare what you have in the door on the other side if needed.

Linkage is hooked up and seems to be functioning fine.
When I manually latch the door only one click, the inside handle opens the latch. If I push the latch into the second click(door closed position), it won't open the latch.

I had to remove my latches and soaked them in solvent overnight, then blow dried and some spray lub, worked very well after that. Also as "mbaird" mentioned there is an adjustment for the push button linkage......I never knew it existed until I removed the latch for cleaning..........

I just finished taking the latch out, cleaning it, and lubing it back up. Re-installed the latch and...it still didn't work. After some experimenting, I found out that the arm on the latch that the inside handle rod attaches to was bent slightly(as well as the rod). Took everything back out and straightened everything up and...it now unlatched with the door open, but didn't open the door once it was shut. So...started adjusting the striker post and guess what? IT WORKS!!!
