This foam gasket that sits between the master cylinder and the brake booster just fell apart when I removed it. Can one order one of these? Or maybe make one myself? Is it there to keep dust and dirt out?
Some more photos. Painted the engine and gave the engine bay a good scrub. The bay came out a lot better. It's quite ratty and a lot of the paint flaked of. But at least it is clean. I'm kind of in a hurry to get it out on the road so I might might not paint it. Just go over all the wiring and tidy everything up. The engine came out brighter than I expected. But I'm quite pleased anyways.
Yeah, that bike is really cool. It's not mine. I share the space. All I know is he said it is a Triumph
Installed the new oil pump and pickup tube today. Was going to put the oil pan on too, but two things made me stop and think. 1: The when the pickup tube was bottomed out in the pump it was not pointing right. I had to back it off and that made it feel a bit loose. I installed it with Loctite. It did not feel right to try to force it almost another full turn. 2: I had two seals for the pan. One is slightly beefier in some places. I don't know if you can see it in the pictures. One is probably from a Fel-Pro kit and one is from a MR.Gasket kit but I don't know which one is which. I guess I can use either one?
very rarely does the pickup tube feel right were it needs to be [my opinion] i always put a couple small tacks of weld for my piece of mind
I have been doing more work on the Duster, but I forget to take pictures sometimes. Here are some though. I managed to split the ballast resistor at the wiper motor in half. Clumsy as hell. Could this be glued back together and still do it's job? I doubt I can find one in Sweden. Even though it might not look like it the bay is way cleaner than it was before. I redid some wiring and got rid of all the old wrapping of the wiring and redid it. Still looks kind of messy with all the loose ends and my tape tags.
