1970 Duster rear axle ratio

-

Wow, a member from France! How cool! It looks like your car has a 318 CID V8. You could have a 7 1/4 or an 8 3/4 differential. It's easy to tell them apart, many threads here to help you. If there's a small tag on one of the bolts, you have a sure grip with the information to tell you the correct fluid for the sure grip requirements. If the rear of the differential does not have a removeable cover, you probably have an 8 3/4 rear. Again, look for the tag on the bolts on the front of the cover. Look on the left side of the third member for a casting number, it's most likely a highly desirable case with the last 3 numbers being 741. Ratios could be from 2.94 to 3.91.

Hello there,
For most cars, the axle ratio will be 2.76 with automatic transmissions. Your car probably does have the 7 1/4" axle since about 90% or more had that axle.

I forgot about the 2.76 ratio. Thanks for correcting me. I hate to quote inaccurate information. I had a 1970 318-2V car with AC, a factory 3 speed manual, and it had a 8 3/4 rear. I don't remember the ratio, as I never broke it.
