I have a friend going to look at a '71 340 Duster.
He says the car has a Valiant emblem on the quarter panel & he asked me if this us how it originally came.
So my question is how was the exterior decorated on a '71 340 Duster?
Car does have a side stripe on it.

I know 1970's had the Valiant badge. The 318 cars had the V EIGHT badge too but the 340 cars did not.

No Valiant or Duster emblems on exterior of a 71. It was all decals for a duster that year.

Thanks Crackedback...................good to know! I learned something today!

on a side note, I have noticed a lot of people tend to put the Plymouth emblem in the grille just because the grille has the mounting holes for it. The 70-2 grilles are all the same but the emblem is 70 only.

the "valiant" emblem on the fender is also 70 only as said above

70's had the valiant badge by the Duster 340 sticker on fender. Some but not many had the V-Eight emblems on the front of fender.

71-72 was all stickers regarding model. 73 had return of emblems on fender again.

Good advice.
100% correct in my experience as well.

Thank you for this. I have a 71 and was like how the heck did I misplace that emblem? Never had it, that's why.

I want to get that emblem for my grill. Didn't much care for it before but then I read about what it was supposed to symbolize - a rocket - Chrysler's participation as prime contractor for various missile programs in the 50s that lead to the Apollo program with which they were also heavily involved. I read about it on Allpar if I remember correctly.
Very cool story. Apparently their engineering and quality was so good they never had a failure with one of their rockets.
