Hey guys had air passing through my 1972 Plymouth Scamp windshield. It seems like its coming from the top. Windshield was cracked so had a new one installed but still does the same thing. Do I need to use more sealant around the edges? Any suggestions?
I have a '72 Scamp also . New windshield and gasket , leaks like a sieve . The installer didn't use ANY sealer . Asshat ! You need to use sealer all around the gasket and in the corners where there is no coverage . Yup , myne has to come out . No one up here knows what they're doing .
I have a 72 Scamp also that going to need a new windshield also so I'm paying close attention to this thread.
I guess I’m going to have to remove the top molding that seems to be where the problem is but it’s pretty annoying when your going down the road.
A glass guy I use to know told me to use this. He said a lot of mopars leak without it. Super Price On 3M 8509 3M Auto Bedding and Glazing Compound, 1/10 Gallon Cartridge at ToolPan.com
The new glass is not as thick...when the guy did my dart he ran a thin strip of butal tape inside the gasket
Correct , the new glass is not as thick . however, "3M" automotive glass sealer will do the same thing . I know it's expensive ($25.00 tube) but why cheap out and have a leaking windshield ?
