1973 Duster Build

-
Will do. Tried to get these cars four years ago and he wasn’t ready. Hope I can come to a good price point and seal the deal. Going to require a ton of work.

Ok. A lot has happened in the last few weeks. A little trip to Africa...no Mopars spotted. Then work and more work. Then a Father’s Day surprise came along!

Then I went and picked up some stuff for this car.... nice rear end, front suspension rebuild parts, front sway bar, and a sweet little Torker II Intake.

From the cowl back the red one is in great shape. The blue one needs all metal except front fenders. I ran up metal cost estimates on each. Raw cost pushes past $6000 in each just for metal, no labor. Blue car has a title and tired 440 under the hood. Complete interior but door cards and pillar trim are literally dust. Red car has no title but looks to be an H code car, ralleye red. Both are bucket seat console cars. I have each of them around $25k to get back on the street with no labor fluff involved on **** I can’t see.

Well it depends. I have a number in mind on the cars. If I make it realistic I can take my time and get the cars done over time. I don’t know tons about E bodies, but it is clear that if I am going to sell them down the road a restomod is the way to go on the blue car for sure. There are 3 basket case E bodies in the shop right now. The challenger was a literal cheesebox when it started.

There is another 70 Cuda in the lot, but it is not the owner. Front clip is gone and no drivetrain. Unfortunate since it was a 383 car

That sounds like a fair price for 2 Cudas, if the red one checks out ok with DMV. Take the VIN to a local DMV inspector, and tell him you're interested in buying it, and getting a bonded title. He can check it out to see if it was stolen or has leins against it. If it comes back stolen, he is gonna immediately ask you where it is. If the dash vin is missing....RUN FORREST....RUN!! lol

Dash Vin IDs are both there. Cars have been in this lot for a looooong time. Bought Dusters from him in the past. Auto body shop. He just doesn’t have the time to do them himself. The 8 3/4 under the red car literally has a name painted on it in cursive.

That is the going price for E body parts cars, I bought a very rusty cuda recently for $2500, the car broke in 1/2 putting it on my trailer.

Too far gone to save, I just bought it for the 4-speed set up.

Did a little reading and think I have myself more confused than straight. I have this intake, a performer RPM with a carb spacer, and was looking to buy a Performer RPM Air Gap for the 360. Street to hit street build with the lunati cam somewhere here in this build thread. Thoughts?

Today was grille day. Worked on the lenses for the grille. Reworked the header panel trim. Need to find out if someone makes vinyl letters for the sucker....otherwise it looks like a tape job and an Xacto knife.

Ok...back to life in here. 72 Is a running Duster again. Demon is likely headed to a sale at some point. I have space issues. 72 Swinger is going to spend some time in the transportation museum this winter as an exhibit.

Parts stacked high for this car now so I will get doing. I said blue several times in here but was actually toying with a Panther Pink and black. My little girl approved. Half moon top and all....

Wifey is over-riding pink on this one...so let’s get after it moving forward. Picked up some 73 Dart front disc brake hardware to make the swap.

Try not to cuss me too bad when you take that crap off the front that just makes it roll.....lol. When it hit's the floor and you go to sell it, the spindles and drums came off of a 71 Challenger conv. :)

Gotcha JD. No issues. Mike took in a 340 Challenger on trade a 73. Changes fluids and cleans up some wiring, new plugs etc and the thing starts....why can’t I find stuff like that?

What would working on a car be without cussing?

Spent a few hours at the shop with number 5. Cooked a mean roast for the wife...actually the crock pot did. My helper put in some sugar-infused effort into restoring a set of Manifolds. Started making my list for this car. Made another list of crap to gather for the 440s being built. I will have to see where the machine shop is on the 360 long block for this car. Wife changed her mind and wants pink instead of blue. She said she likes the contrast with black stripes and half moon top better.....Panther Pink and Black it is...Great day
