1974 Scamp some assembly required

Been thinking for awhile about doing an aftermarket cluster (and harness), I think they're cool, so why not? Studied the options, and after talking to their very knowledgeable tech Sean, for me the EZ Wire made the most sense. They're local to me, no shipping and handling so I got a really good deal. AND every wire is clearly marked. Not plug and play, but damn close.

Looks great!! You did an amazing job. I see alot of clusters I'm not a fan of but yours just fits!! Looks amazing good job
 
Man, I'm usually not a fan of the modern gauges but those look great! Nuthin wrong with bringing the wiring into the 21st century, either. Sure as heck beats a big pile of ashes in the driveway!
 
Thanks for the nice comments guys. My intention has been to not go wild with the customization, but to do it sorta like I think Ma Mopar should have.

Found it. I also see that you used the bracket that bolts it under the distributor. How do you like that?
HEI in Mopar ECU casing

I have a couple of the design 2 drive brackets that mount the hei under the distributor.
It works fine, and hides everything, but if you ever had to change the module you would need to pull the distributor.
The car I am building now, will have the module mounted on the firewall.

Pulling the distributor would be a little drawback. But I really don't mind it being out in the open.

Little drawback but aggravating, because you know it most likely will go out when you are no where near your garage, changing on the firewall is simple and easy.
 
Did you make all that or is that a premade bezel?
I took the easy way out. It's store bought. Or rather mail order. LOL
I had a couple cluster bezels I could have hacked up. But I really didn't want to.
I painted it to sort of match the factory look.
 
Next I'm gonna install the dash. Didn't want all the crap from the windshield channel clean up to fall in it so I knocked that out. It cleaned up pretty well. Several spots will need some por-15. No rust through holes, though. Installed the wiper pivots and linkage, also.

Next I'll finish prepping and prime the windshield channel. Then it's time to get that dash in and wire this sucker up! Got to study up on how to install the dash screws from underneath. I like the idea of being able to more easily remove the dash if ever needed.
 
Continued with the wiring. Start relay and electronic ignition is complete. Rear is complete, steering column is complete. Brake lights, turn signals, backup lghts checked out. However, we have a no taillights issue. No power from the headlight switch and no continuity through it. Used an unknown switch without checking it out first. Rookie mistake.

Todays progress. Turns out the headlight switch is fine. Forgot to connect 12v to B2 terminal. Duh. All good now.

Tank is empty but gauge reads 3/4. Time for a Metermatch.

Everything installed is functioning correctly. Except the fuel gauge. The Metermatch should fix that. Cranks with the key like a real car! Idles at 850, run's cool, holds 65psi oil pressure warm. I'm pretty happy to say the least.
