Well here it is...I picked up this Swinger off craigslist Amarillo.../6 3 speed in the floor so how could i say no? The guy i got it from bought the car from the original owners son. So im the 3rd owner i would say. It also came with the original Texas title. Well here is the plan: Complete repaint, unsure of what color...my wife likes the J-6 sublime green look so i may say it will win, new black vinyl top, tubular front, rack and pinion, rallye wheels,8 3/4, 4 speed, buckets from my 73' sport (RIP old girl) and a 426 HEMI. Yep! Im gonna do it with some great advice from a great guy, Hemidenny. So stay tuned folks, I have my hands full in the next little while as i tear this momma apart. I will post pictures every time i do something. I actually rented a storage unit today so i can store all these fabulous parts i have, LOL...Thanks FABO

Looks like a great project! I always thought it would be cool to have a 426 Hemi sleeper (beige or maroon paint and custom wheels made to look like full hubcaps).

looks just like my 74' Duster under the hood....make sure you save that overflow reservior....roll up your sleeves...this is gonna be fun!

looks like you got all the neccassary tools....cherry picker, jackstands, floor jack, and a fuzzy helper....need to relocate battary to trunk...it gets tight

while you doin' the dirtywork...remove the fueline (5/16) all the way to the tank........replace w/3/8".....(I like Fine Lines...but they are local for me)...don't forget the bigger (3/8) fasteners/clips...don't forget the 3/8 pick-up in the tank...(probably needs changed after 35 yrs anyways)

Great start.
I would throw the hemi at it but not touch the body.
Leave the hubcaps and all, what a sleeper it would be.

That's going to be wicked. I see you are a PBR fan as well. Nice. :)

3-spd on the floor must be pretty rare! Not that I wouldn't swap it for a 4-speed but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

Good luck with that project! My first car was a 74 Swinger. Bought it when I was in high school. I miss that car. Thats me in the car.....MANY pounds and beers ago:snorting:

Yup! PBR is my favorite beer...Duster, i love your swinger! i had a 73' close to the same color...I am gonna keep the hubcaps just in case i need to arrange a sleeper...more progress to follow very soon, i am knocking out the torsion bars and its game on!

I think im gonna invest in a new tank for good measure and while im at it a new pickup and 3/8 setup. Can't pollute my new HEMI with old stuff

Yep, ready for the next step

ready for blast-off..(sandblaster that is),.......might consider power wash at the car wash w/Simple Green or some other solvent instead......man your stuff out there is just dirty/greasy instead of rusty....must be nice!

i plan on grabbing some degreaser tomorrow, then its cleaning the K for a friend of mine :D ...no real rust, just surface on the floor pans where ma didn't put any paint

You must have cool neighbors. Not too many neighborhoods that I've lived in would let you do any of that in your driveway.
