1987 Shelby Charger GLHS

* 2.2 Turbo, port fuel injected, intercooled, engine. 5 speed manual transmission. Runs/drives great.
Serial #0055 of 1,000 built, by Carroll Shelby at his Whittier CA. facility. Original California car. Sold new at Celebrity Dodge in Fresno California. Currently has about 103K on the odometer. Driven only in summer.

* Engine: Complete engine rebuild about 5 years ago by previous owner. During the process, a new upgraded roller cam was added...Garrett turbocharger, was re-worked by Turbos Unleashed. This car currently has #14 LBS. of boost, factory stock was #12 LBS. With the subtle upgrades, it should be making well over 200 HP. Factory rating was 175 HP and 175 # LBS. torque. Fresh oil change using Mobil 1 10W30 synthetic oil. Runs strong.

* Transmission: BRAND NEW replacement clutch/pressure plate/throw out bearing/flywheel... along with ARP flywheel - clutch bolts/fasteners...all recently installed. Transmission fluid, flushed and replaced. Short throw shifter, and stronger shifter rods from FWD Performance, installed 3 years ago. Clutch cable replaced 2 years ago.

* Brakes: New drilled /slotted rotors, new pads, new calipers, new stainless steel lines.
Master cylinder is about 2-3 years old. Nitto Extreme 205/50/15" tires in good condition.
Original Centurion 15X6" alloy wheels.

* Interior: All original, except for carpet installed by previous owner. Interior is in good condition, and presents well. Still retains original leather steering wheel, and Momo shift knob from Shelby. Dashboard in good shape, zero cracks. Original Shelby serial number plate still on the dash. Has aftermarket gauges on the A pillar. All lights, gauges, original AM-FM cassette radio, wipers, work good. Sunroof operates as it should.

* Exterior: Original paint still on most of the car.
Direct Connection (metal) rear window louvers.
There is a small area of bondo, on the bottom passenger side rear 1/4 panel, in front of the wheel well. There are chips in the paint, a few dings, and blemishes. Overall, it still looks good after almost 40 years, It's in good presentable driver condition. Undercarriage/floor in good condition, no rot or rust.

I have a binder of receipts, factory paperwork,
Shelby specific literature, Shelby CD service manual, original owners manual. Also comes with brand new Shelby GLHS stripe and decal kit... and other miscellaneous items. Clear title in my name. Location: 48413 Michigan.

$8,000 CASH....OR...
Trade straight up for a nice '65-'76 Dart, Dart Sport, Scamp, Valiant, Duster, Demon. 318 OR slant 6...MUST be an automatic. Also be (reasonably) rust free, AND in good running/driving condition, with a clean title...NO project cars! Any trades come to me, I don't own a trailer, or have space for one. Thanks for your interest. Thanks A bodies for the ad!

*NEW PRICE* $7,800 CASH FIRM!!
I have priced it below market value... for a quick sale.
A Shelby Charger GLHS in average condition
sells currently between $8,000 to $12,000 depending on the mileage of the car.

This car has only been driven about 2,500 to 2,600 miles PER YEAR, in 39 -1/2 years!

A previous owner removed the A/C compressor sometime in the past, for some unknown reason.
This car, and all Shelby Charger/Omni GLHS cars are front wheel drive.

Also, it being a FWD car, it has equal length half shafts, that are stronger than regular components found on standard 2.2 fwd Dodge Chargers and Omni's, from the same time period.
Essentially Carroll Shelby used heavy duty suspension parts, along with his high performance engine upgrades, when he built these GLHS cars, out of his facility.

A reminder....
The original engine has been rebuilt to stock specs....it does have a newer model roller camshaft installed, I don't know the specs.
The Garrett turbocharger was re-worked and rebuilt by Turbos Unleashed, they did modify the compressor wheel, during the rebuild.
The car puts out 14 lbs of boost... factory stock was 12 lbs of boost.

It has about 1,000 or so miles since rebuild.
The car has many new parts installed, some very recently BRAND NEW parts...
It runs/shifts/stops great... everything works...
This car is a survivor, with mostly original paint still on the car...a little over 103K miles, which equals about 2,500 miles a year, since 1987.

With warmer weather on the way, and springtime finally here...price is going up SOON.
Car is ready to go, get in and drive...
Take it to cruise nights, or a dragstrip. Maybe an auto cross course, and kick ***, on some Mazda Miata's, or Mustangs, and other junk.
