Trying to work out my mild 360 build. Can Hughes retro roller lifters be used with 273 adjustable rockers? The build will be mild. Say around a .475 lift/ 268 duration if I had to just guess you closes as to how mild the build will be ? I plan on using my J heads I have here. I understand I'll need to use custom pushrods. I figured that much. Just wondered if they would work? I really don't want to refinance my house on some Harland Sharp setup for a mild build. Thanks all.

Yes they can. You need to measure for the right length pushrods.

I think I have a set of nice 273 rockers. I just wondered if the geometry would be ok with this mild lift setup? Thanks!!

Yes.

I ran a set of 273 adjustable rockers on my 408 with a Crane hydraulic roller cam. I believe that Crane had an off the shelf pushrod that worked great. Some messaging was required to my factory cast iron heads in the pushrod areas in order to clear as the geometry changes and the pushrod diameter was bigger than stock. My cam was in the .520 to .530 lift range. I regularly spun it up to 6000 rpm and had no issues.

273's are bulletproof. Ratios may not be as good as Isky irons but for $100, they are great. Just look out for tired interference adjusters or put lock nuts on them.

This is a great mention.
All LA "non magnum" heads need the push rod holes opened up both in the direction of the valley and exhaust side of the heads. The taller lifter puts a greater angle in the push rods resulting in not only contact...but even more lift being robbed.
You don't have to open them towards the port window, BUT if you don't mind leaving the port window pinch as cast...you can simply have the heads push rod holes drilled 9/16 and then with a burr take off just a hair at the top and bottom , basically make them oval at each end.
