I recently destructed the indestructible 225 that my valiant had in it and have picked up a new four speed and a free 318 out of a 69 sport fury that was auto, I was wondering if I could get some help/ advice and what other parts I will need for this swap. The tranny came with a pedal assembly, housing, z-bar, clutch fork, the pivot for the clutch fork tranny crossmember and mounts. The motor came by itself as it was free. It was sitting outside for 10 year so it will be taken apart and given a once over probably hone and new rings and it'll go back together. If anyone has suggestions as to what else I should do and what other parts I will need all help is welcome. *i do know most of the parts I will need to get the tranny situation all set I would just like to double check*

Is the 833 an OD or non OD? They have different bellhousings. Also, check the crank on the 318 to see if it'll take a pilot bushing or not. If you have the right bellhousing and the 318 crank will play nicely with the A833 input shaft then that part should be fairly straight forward. My 318 out of a '68 Fury was not sized for a pilot bushing so I had to use a bearing. I got it at O'Reilly's and the part # was FC69907. Sounds like you've got a good grip on what's involved with the transmission swap.

Going from a six to a small block is pretty easy. I used Schumacher engine mounts and everything bolted up as it should. So getting the 318/A833 into the car shouldn't be a problem. You'll need a new driveshaft, old one won't work. What all you use just depends on the purpose of the car. Are you going to keep the old /6 rear end or get a beefier one? If you go that route- get the rear end first THEN do the driveshaft. You'll need a four speed floor hump as well.

What's the car going to be used for and what parts does it already have?
