I have a really solid 340 block,I've had it for over 30 years. It has the std machine work, deck, line hone "with studs",bore with tq plate. The reason I've kept it is all the thrusts are over 160.It was checked with a BHJ sonic tester.I think it's .040 but the bores are all covered with grease and I was not going to get covered in it to find out. What are these thing worth?
My son pulled it out, if it were left to me it would be under the bench for another 20 years...

      4) what did it come out of
      5) includes mains, crank or anything else?

.040 for pistons you have? Or did you just have it bored? When an engine is bored and honed it is fitted for pistons you have. Being you said they used torque plates they are used when power honed. So it must have been honed for pistons in hand. That info will be important on determining its value. Every piston manufacture is a different final size.

The next bore on a .040 will be .060.

Std. bore blocks $500-$1000 . .030 would be less and so on if you do not have the pistons. a .060 block would almost be useless unless sleeved. Unless its a fresh bore with the pistons. Torque plates are used for honing to size . Not boring.

All my race engines were bored and honed with torque plates.

Using custom pistons any bore size can be made. I' m used to seeing .015....025 overbores done by the top dirt track engine builders.

Whats it worth Canadian....as your not going to get it down here....I'm sure the extension will come Sept 21.....040 over is on its last leg but a fresh .040 bore is good to go.

I kept the block for 30 years because there is soooo much cyl wall thickness." I've never seen one this thick"with .160 min. it will go .080 and have lots left on the table. That is why I kept it.
The block is a 69.I'm just going to push it back under the bench...
            Thanks for the input...

Gen III 6.1 hemi's can be had in 4.085 and they are flat tops with the same LA pin bore.....so a +.005 clean up is feasible.

I've got six 340's....had em all since the 70's. None of em are going anywhere until I kick over, but I am gonna get them all cleaned and bead blasted before long, then grease them up and bag them.
