can anybody post pictures of a 340 k frame and point out the differences between it and a regular V8 k frame?

Welded beefed up tubes at the back end for the LCA pins, and an identification washer tack welded to the front for assembly line I.D.

No pictures, but its basically just some "U" shaped reinforcement metal welded around the lower control arm pivot holes in the k frame, and a washer welded to the front for identification

Not really that much stronger than the normal K frame you would be better off bolting it on the car and seam welding it all the way around

There's a few threads with pictures of the 340 K frames. The reinforcements were minimal and usually pretty poorly done. They started in '70 and ran through '72 for sure, seems like '73 had them as well but they stopped before '74.

The difference is literally a washer (that does nothing) and a couple of half moon washer shapes welded to the LCA pivot tube holes. You could do a better job of reinforcing the LCA pivot tubes with a couple of heavy duty washers from the hardware store welded on with a Harbor Freight MIG welder, even if you don't really know how to weld. Nothing else was different about the K's, and some of the factory welds on that stuff were atrocious.

This is the washer, used to ID the K's

These are the LCA pivot "reinforcements". And the "reinforcement" term is used very loosely.

I was putting the freshly powder coated k frame in my 70 340 swinger yesterday and was amazed how sloppy the welds are.....

I always sandblast and reweld all the seems, plus add steering box gussets anytime I do one, even if it's not a race car

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread, you have all helped me ID the V8 K frame that I just bought.
