Hello,
I am gathering parts for my engine build, I have a 340 68 block and late model Magnum heads. I have a 68 year water pump with correct H2O pump pulley (thanks to the pulley thread) and the correct crank pulley is on the way. I have manual steering and no A/C. My question is can I use standard hardware for a 68 or 69 LA block? Is there a stud mounting size difference in the Magnum head and is the location the same as say X heads? I've searched the threads and haven't seen anything that mentions a problem, I am looking at a set on Cheesebay and wondering if it would work. THANKS!!! BTW Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads.

From my own experience, I wasn't able to use a powermaster alternator with my 5.2 Magnum swap, but I was able to use a standard 60 amp duralast replacement. As I recall, the holes for accessory mounting were all in the same position.

Also check here:

magnumswap.com

and/or look up LXguy...or Abodybomber...both of them have done magnum swaps--there are scads more on this site that have done it, but those are the first two that come to mind.
