340 to 360 swap with a 904 Transmission

Hey guys,

I just pulled my 340 out of my 68' dart and am considering swapping it out to a 360 stroked. I just rebuilt my 904 transmission last year or i would replace it with a 727. I will be re-using it for now. What all do i require in order to swap it onto the 360 if i go that route?

I believe i need a new flexplate and torque converter?

You will have to find out if the 360 stroker has been internally balanced. Most kits are. If so you can use the flex plate you have. No problem with a 904 behind a 360 or larger.

Darter6 is right. Ask the guy that built the engine if it's internally or externally balanced. If internally your good with what you have. If it was externally balanced it'll most likely take a flexplate designed for a 360 but ask the engine builder just to be sure
