Yes it was...and i still now where it is today. Is disassembled and stay in a Garage for about 8 Years now, but the Guy don´t want to sell it again.
Car does not deserve it.
Anyway, this thread is about your car, not mine :)

Glad to see you're all over it! Got a happy little helper too

How did you feel about the stock converter with that cam? I ended up going with an Edge 3400, which should stall 35-3600 with this motor.. but drive normally. FRP recommends 3200 at the minimum. 4k is what they actually said is best performance. If I had went with a Tomahawk, they said they could probably tune around it... but really pushed the Trident for this stroker.

That’s a tough one to answer, it was only together for about 8 miles before the shaft decided to self destruct. I looked at many different converters and company’s before going this route, and unfortunately seeing all the “bad” stories and not many “good” stories got the best of me and I decided to play it safe with a Mopar converter. The problem with that is all you ever hear is the bad stories, and that sways decisions like mine was.

Yea, tough call at 8 miles. Was just mainly curious if it had any lug or pull at idle with that cam. I went with the Edge stret converter for a few reasons.. I've ran them before with zero issues. Had a 2800 in a Magnum RT and you couldn't even tell it was a 2800 stall, until you ripped on it. I'd drive to the track, put down a 7.6 (1/8th) with a 1.60 60' and then stop for milk on the way home. The Magnum was nice because the slicks fit nicely in the hatch area. I beat on that car pretty good. Anyway, the price point is competitive at around 650ish and the owner (Andre) is a really good guy to deal with, that stands behind his work with a great warranty that would probably go beyond his advertised 1 year after install, just because he really stands behind his stuff.

Is it back together yet? :)

Damn, yeah I guess had I known your success and the appealing price I would have jumped on one of those instead. I think I’ve got $900 into the Mopar 1320 converter. Yeah still what little time I’ve got in experience with the build it’s been pretty good. No surging or any funny stuff at idle.

It’s going into an upholstery shop to get the headliner and windshield put in then going back to Washington for my fab guy to repair the carnage. Not sure when he’s gonna work it into his schedule but I’m totally fine with that cause we have 3” of snow on the ground and will likely be a month or two till we get some decent weather anyway.

Do you have a goal for yours to be back on the road?

I usually like to be done and test driving by the end of April, so I plan my projects accordingly and try to keep most of it to weekends only. Right now, I'm on track and could probably be done a little sooner. In reality, I could plug in the engine harness, throw some interior in, add trans cooler and some other bolt ons and probably start and drive it as is.. with a tune of course. But I've got time, so I'll refine a few things.

I built a chop top Beetle during covid and and it was too much.. was on it almost every day/night for months, just to try to get it done for spring.. Came out really nice but that's when I decided to limit myself to winter weekends. There's a beast inside of my head that takes over if I let it and I just try to let it out on weekends now, even tho it makes alot of noise through the week.
