Hello friends. Have a 3rd member I'm about to sell. Was told it is an aar 3rd member. Didn't purchase it because of that. Had a posi and what I believe is a 3:55 that would work for this build. Well the build has changed and we're going dana. Don't want to fake news my ad if it's not an aar pumpkin. Also have an a body housing I know to be real I'll be selling. Hopefully package the deal and reuse the dana crate for shipping. Appreciate your knowledge and experience. Thanks and God Bless the USA.

WTF is an AAR Center section? This 3rd member is a 742 case 1968 was the last year for that, AAR E bodies did not come on the scene till 1970. At that time it was 741 489 and Dana's offered. This Center has aftermarket auburn cone type sure grip with Red springs, the oem ones did not have colored springs, ring/pinion is also aftermarket.

With a 2.73 gear (marked on the back of the pinion) OEM gears have the ratio on the ring gear.
That's not the gear ratio. That's the measuring distance to set the pinion depth. The gear ratio is marked on the ring gear. 39-11 = 3.55. It's not an AAR chunk......and even if it was, there's no way to tell, so it wouldn't be worth any more than any other cone style sure grip. Looks clean, though.

That makes sense. Kind of.

. 39-11 = 3.55
39 ring teeth
11 pinion teeth.

39/11= 3.545454545 or 3.55.

The part number
887355 looks like a Motive Gear part number
C887355M is for a 741 case
C887355L is for a 489 case

They don't currently list one for a 742 case.
