Hello fellow experts,
I'm sorry I haven't been on much lately as I had spinal surgery and I'm slowly coming along. It's been n bridal a whole month and with no pain killers lol

Ok my question du jour is if anyone can n tell me if the 4 speed mechanism ( for my bayonet) shifter is what?
Do different models come with it.
The car I bought was a 69 A body Barracuda and was made into a 4 speed, I think. Tie is why I'm asking
I believe I need to change it any hero will be greatly appreciated.

after reading that, you sure no painkillers?

having difficulty parsing the message. but i think you're asking if the shifter mechanism is specific only to A-bodies or the bayonet style handle? and what replaces it because you think that yours needs replacement?

The bayonet was used from 68-71. There really is no major difference in any of the 68 up A-Body Hurst shifters other than how the handle is attached. They all use the same linkage. The same shifters were used in B-Bodies in 68 and 69 and later in the O/D trucks and vans. If what you have fits and works you are good to go.

For clarification, '68 A bodies didn't use Hurst. It was an Inland shifter.

Maps has a language barrier also sometimes, no offense to Maps. He's a Francophone.
Sorry to read of the surgery, get well!

First and foremost,
Junky Yard Hero.
Please don't allow my addressing your handle in any way nor misinterpreted for your possible interests in "pain killers" as you did so elegantly alluded on my behalf on account of the grammar and wrong words all together.
Suffice to say just like I wouldn't call myself "Junky..Millionaire Mopar Elite collector... or Junky anything" Then again, to each his own.
I have made mention on this a cpl of times thru the yrs as I have 3 tablets and my cell phone when I correspond accordingly with the nice folk here but one Apple tablet has a cpl of cracks and I don't actually see what's spelled until I get to post it and as mentioned my pain is somewhat incongruous with my surroundings at said times. So it's not my main concern at times.
Regardless. I feel you did get the nucleus of my post and I'm glad a few others have replied, helpfully.

As for my good and fellow comrade Steve (4 spd ragtop) made a simple but honest mistake ɓy implying I am a francophone... or that English was not my language of choice. Steve is a gentleman.

Lastly, if anyone is 100 % sure which mechanism is used with my bayonet shifter that I bought from the great Brewers shop I'd really appreciate it.
After all this, I just realized that Brewers should have been the man I should have called originally. My bad there.

May you all have a happy Easter and for those of us who are still waiting for the weather to warm up to take out our cars, Godspeed.

I need to change it, this is why I'm looking for the info.
Thanks.

Yes, I'm aware of that, that they were actually changed mid season if I'm not mistaken.
I have a 69 with the console..

So I started with a bayonet shifter and bought the reproduction console handle from Brewers. I also bought this to convert my shifter mechanism. Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists. That along with the reinforcement plate worked perfectly for me.
